about 23 weeks ago my laptop is getting all messed up, first it started going wrong with media shring, its inconsistent (by that i mean it cuts off and then instantly restarts) and im not really to bothered about that, though i would lke that sorted, but my main problem is for some reason my laptop wont open windows update, it runs and install all importnt updates when i shut it down, but i can actually get it to open, as in, i click the icon, it laods, but then does nothing, so im unable to view, o do anything with it, i want to kno why this is happening, my other problem the control panel wont even open , it opens a window, but then closes.
i recently tried to install vista sp1, i downlaoded it of microsoft site, in the hopes it might sort these problems, but it wont install it, it gets into stage 3 and im not sure what happens when it gets to 100% but i when i cime back and look, it just says it revertin changes.
the last thing is, i had a window pop up about validity of my copy of vista (which was installed from the harddrive and how i bought it, so it is) but i did this whoole thing to vlaidate it on the microsoft website. and it asked me to put in command prompt "net start slsvc" then to vlaidate when thats started, but it always says error 5, and im running through admin as well, and its started twice, but i cannot repeat results after closing a few windows (cant remember which ones i closed though)
any help for any one of my numerous porblems would be greatly appreciated
