@HenrySix The $500 million figure was an off-the-cuff remark from Activision CEO Bobby Kotick. It was only said in a context that emphasised that this was to be a major and long-term property for Activision. So, it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with how much was actually spent on the game, its marketing, or how much has been budgeted for sequels.
@carolino Investors made money. A few gamers will get a month of entertainment from it. A lot of people spent $60 and have learned a valuable lesson about boarding the hype train. Not the worst spending then, but there are other studios that could have made 10 better games for for that much.
Polished but bland. I imagine this is around what most people were expecting for a score. I heard rumour that a PC version is slated for March next year, but I can't imagine anyone will care by then?
I wonder where Bungie/Activision take it from here, being that they want a '10 year franchise' out of this? It has clearly hit the right financial notes, but by the sounds of it the player base is going to drop off very soon.
I think the meat of the matter is; If you want a continuation of the Dead Rising series, 3/10. If you just want a game where you can kill thousands of helpless zombies, 7/10.
@hystavito Hey, thanks, I think I'll jump into the EA on that one. I don't usually follow what is going on with Double Fine because I find their output quality varies so drastically, so I need to be pointed in the direction of the good ones.
