Hey guys,

I have a socket 939 amd athlon x2 4200+, i was checking out the socket am2 cpu's and realized they run a lot cheaper. I was wondering if their is a perfomance difference or it is just merely a difference in the # of pins. Any help would be greatly appreciated in clearing this question up. I really want to know what the difference is of these two formats.

By the way everyone on these boards are really great and helpful. This is the best online community I have come across and i really appreciate all the insight and technical knowledge that comes along with being part of this great online community--no matter what questions I seem to have there is always help an support here on the forums. You huys and gals are great

Thanks again,

Jon

hey guys

I just added a gig to my laptop bringing it up to 1.5 gigs of ram.  The question i have is that originaly i had pc 5300 ddr2 ram at 667 mhz.   I took one 512 stick out and added a pc 4200 at 533mhz.  So now i have pc 4200 i gig and pc 5300 at 513 megabytes.  Is this goin to cause problems in performance?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if their is ne way to tell what kind of ram my laptop uses without opening up the slot on the bottom?  I want to upgrade, so i need to know how many pins-- I already know its ddr2.  Another issue i have is that there is only 2 slots so i need to figure out if it has 2-512 sticks or 1-1gig stick.  Please let me know if there is ne way to figure this out without opening it up

Thanks
