whoever says to drive nascar takes no skill truly has no clue about the sport. Funny it takes no skill and only 60 drivers are good enough to go to qualifying every week and only 43 of those go on to race. Its not just 'driving in a circle'. Its about drafting, air forces, pressures, angles, you quite truly need a rocket scientist to set up these cars. Adding A quarter pound of air pressure in one tire can make a 10mph diff and throw handling all out of whack. One of the most complicated sports that exists. They may make it look easy, But i've never seen any other sport that requires an army of engineers to figure it out. This is a true statement: When the car is going around a corner at 160mph, if you could push on the side of the car with your hand, you would spin it around.
Not just luck that the car will get around a corner at 160mph while the driver tells you what the right rear needs to be dropped down 1/100th of an inch on lap 112 and the left front tire needs a 1/4 lb. of air added to it, it requires a driver so good that maybe only 200 people in the world may be skillful enough to accomplish this. So, adjustments are made And then an hour later its 3 degrees cooler outside, and the track has cooled off 2 degrees, so the car goes all to hell and its time to make adjustments again. Then a car gets in the lead and realizes his car wont run in the clean open air, so he has to give up the lead tuck in behind someone, this takes air pressure off the front of the car which again changes everything, etc etc. get my point?
