[QUOTE="zmbi_gmr"][QUOTE="MAILER_DAEMON"]Using pre-rendered backgrounds is nothing new in RE, but what they did was a technique called FMA- Full Motion Animation. Basically, rather than just paste a texture on there directly loaded from the disc, they made the frame for the areas that the characters interact in, then have the non-interactive areas textured by a looping FMV on the disc. It may be as simple as a 2 second loop of a candle flicker, but they did it in a way that it makes the whole experience more engrossing than a typical game with pre-rendered backgrounds, but doesn't go to where Code Veronica, 4, or 5 did and make a real-time engine. Keeping the old RE "feel" yet finding a way to make it look that great is why many RE fans feel like REmake is the best RE game to date.MAILER_DAEMON
I don't doubt what your saying, but i have to ask how do you know all of that. RE on the GC does look fantastic. for anyone new to the series or a fan from the beginning who didn't have a chance to play this REmake should definately consider playing this game.
Because I read all of the interviews and previews before the game came out. :P dude, this game is like that kind of game that hooks you in and you just can't bring yourself to let go. It is so damn good that few games even today come close. Man, I can't wait to play RE5. From the previews and stills you can tell they're really going all out, holding nothing back, pushing the envelope to the edge. I'm so excited bro!
