World Series Begins Tonight

And we have a great matchup. The Angels, Red Sox, and Braves having been eliminated, I'll be satisfied no matter what the result is. While the Astros have never been to the World Series, their drought is actually two years shorter than the White Sox, who have not won a World Series since 1917. Here are my predictions: Astros in 7. While both teams are evenly matched with their rotation, except for their 4th starter, Houston will probably lose when Backe pitches. This series has the potential to be a low scoring, small ball classic, but I think that in the end, the Astros have more experience, which I think will be the deciding factor. And personally, I'd rather have Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, Brad Lidge, or Roy Oswalt pitching out of the bullpen in game 7 than Mark Buehrle, Jose Contreras, Jon Garland, Freddy Garcia, or Bobby Jenks, purely because, while the Astros have not been to the Series, they have been far into the playoffs in these last few years. Also, going by past years, in each of the past four years, the wild card (in this case Houston,) has won, and in the last three years, the wild card has beaten the best team in the other league, i.e. Chicago. Also, since 2000, the AL has won in the even numbered years, while the NL has won in the odd numbered years. This is an odd numbered year, so... That being said, this is a very tough series to predict, because we are seeing very similar, old school teams. I look forward to this series. One more mini-rant: Paul Konerko should not have won the ALCS MVP. While they couldn't give it to one particular starter, I thought that Joe Crede was more deserving. Both had 2 home runs and 7 RBIs, but Crede hit about 80 points higher, and was also amazingly clutch in key situations (e.g. Game 2 and Game 5.) That's it.
