[QUOTE="Darkitachi1989"][QUOTE="jmau0438"]Hey Moderator, How is this: "So basically, if the console can't manage trophies via PSN (which the PS3 didn't really need to begin with, but did so anyway to be as "cool" as Xbox 360 in the eyes of kiddies everywhere), a process that could be done locally on the clients machine (and backed-up with a sync process via PSN), the client doesn't get to play. A rule that is no doubt backed by the technical requirement checklist, with obvious backlashes in logic, but was enforced anyway because the PS3 needed the ego boost and any sour scenarios "could never happen". If I were an executive at Sony, I could say with absolute certainty and zero remorse, that someone is going to get fired today." Off topic. This is the founding premise of the entire situation. Read into PS3 Trophies (the area of chief concern outside of actually playing your console and one of the primary effected components in this bug) and how they came to be and you might agree. Your action tells me that you are either vary tired (which I could understand) or just don't know your industry. Did the "Xbox 360" phrase do it? Either way I was just trying to help, to which I'm an unusual advocate being as how I work in the development side of the industry. But hey man, it's your show.

Very well put

The moderator also meshed someones comment under my name, I think the moderator should have a smoke and pancake. ;)

I said something like that in the original thread before it turned into nonsense, sadly I only got through to one person, but better than none. This situation makes it very easy to imagine how a users' entire library may be rendered useless once PSN support is no longer there.

Possible fix you don't have a warranty or already know a thing or two about the insides of your system. I'll will be trying this soon if Sony doesn't have an update by the time I get off work tomorrow >__>

[QUOTE="jmau0438"][QUOTE="Darkitachi1989"] Well the original source of the information no longer exists(it was the original playstation error topic witht the 93 pages) however I see what you are getting at as a PSN server can affect the ststem clock nor the HDD data correct?Darkitachi1989
Your original quote seemed to hint at order of introduction into the PSN network, and yes, that doesn't make sense. Large networks don't segregate by order of introduction, but rather location. There are hundreds (if not thousands, haven't done the homework on it) of servers out there, your PS3 "talks" to the one closest to you. In regards to your second comment, that's not entirely right either. Your updates (or any software update i.e. Windows) replace existing "machine instructions" with newer ones, and may provide additional material to support it (like when PSN was first introduced). The hardware (the physical parts) may not change, but how they are used can. So yes, your PS3 may download an "update" from a PSN server containing new "machine instructions" that may affect your hard-drive (the new stuff has to go somewhere right?) and affect "devices" such as your system clock. How else do you think they'd fix something like this? ;) (Hey Gamespot, I'm handing out good intel here, how bout a job!)

True and you make good sense there. I agree with you completely after reading your facts over. The theory I mentioned wasnt mine I just thought I would restate it for discussion so as for a person such as yourself, could prove it wrong.

Anytime :)

[QUOTE="Darkitachi1989"][QUOTE="jmau0438"][QUOTE="Darkitachi1989"] There was something mentioned much earlier and I'll bring it up again. It was stated that when you made your PSN account is what determines what server you were on hence the fat PS3s came out earlier than the slims and those people made their PSN IDs earlier than the people with the slims did. Apprently there are two different servers one of which is down. Is there anyone that can confirm this theory?

That doesn't make alot of sense. What is the source of this information?

i dont understand. How has everyones ps3 been bugged and stopped working on the same day (including mine) Mine hasnt even been connected to the internet and i was playing yesterday. Again, put simply, the issue has been there a while, it just need the right value to trigger it...like a time-bomb. That's were the "hack theory" comes from, but I'd wager its simply an oversight in the older model

What does it mean to "sync" your trophies?

Conjuration
Put simply, its when PSN matches what it has to your PS3, or visa-versa

[QUOTE="Dahaka-UK"]

Who would of thought that the internal clock could just totally destroy your PS3.

sheer999
You're right...I don't think I take kindly to clocks anymore.

It's not so much the clock as it is the process that it interrupts and the logic behind the platforms development regulations

[QUOTE="jmau0438"] [QUOTE="jmau0438"]The system clock issue is the cause, no doubt. But it was an ill thought policy that makes it so.Darkitachi1989

So basically you're saying it's a combo of a trophy issue and a system clock issue? It still is pretty weird it's only affected the phat ps3. But I always felt the trophies an inconvenient addition(especially since games now lock save files, another stupid move), and if this is trully the cause, it trully was a stupid muck-up. Especially if we then have to return the console to be fixed. Major screw-up, especially with such great games around the corner. Though I will laugh if trophy info gets loss, oh the humanity!

Maybe when the ps3 first came out, people thought this year was gonna be a leap year? haha, man that would be ignorant.
