LOL So basically take on a second job looking for a game console, that's your advice? And they say that reading comprehension isn't a problem these days...

Here's something for you "it's not that hard, all you've gotta do is look bro" mental midgets out there.

Fact 1: I've called 4 different GameStop stores multiple times in the past 10 days only to be told that they weren't going to have any Wii consoles until Black Friday. This is the ***DEFINITION*** of "manufactured demand." he word "manufactured" is key there. It indicates demand in excecss o what is warranted, created by an artificial lack of supply. In this case, GameStop *has* Wii consoles but isn't selling them until Black Friday. I was told the same thing today at Worst Buy and Target. The pizza faced 14 year old at Worst Buy told me I'd have a great chance on Black Friday if I got to the store by 6 or 7 PM on THANKSGIVING DAY.

Fact 2: It has been reported on Gamespot and elsewhere that Nintendo has shipped ~ 11 to 12 million Wii consoles thus far. And yet Nintendo *claims* that they will ship **23** million consoles by the end of March! That means that either Nintendo will exceed their total Wii production thus far (a year plus some months before launch) in the next four months, or they are hording consoles. Is *anyone* really naive enough to think that Nintendo is going to quadruple their production in the next four months??? If you're buying that I'm got a couple of Caribbean islands I'd love to sell you. Maybe then I can spend some of the profit on one of those absurdly overpriced bundles or pay one of the a--holes on ebay. LOL

Look kids, I *understand* that there are Wiis out there. I *understand* that it is possible to find a Wii. The problem *I* have, as I stated in the very beginning, is it being so ridiculously hard for me, an average guy who has neither the time nor the desire to make looking for a Wii a full time job, to find one.

Not that I expect anyone to care in the least (why should you?), but Nintendo has until Christmas to get enough Wiis into stores such that I can walk in and find one or they can try me again in the next generation of consoles. As cool as the Wii looks, and as much as I think I'd enjo it, I ***KNOW*** that I'd have a heck of a lot more fun with the 360 or PS3 I can buy for sure than I would with the imaginary Wii I can't even find to buy.

Some people, myself included, might suggest to you rzkp78 that having to stand outside of random chain storers at random times hoping for a mythical shipment of Wiis that 99 times out of 100 doesn't even exist is beyond absurd for a console that has been out for a year now. Soccer Moms and Grandothers can do that crap, real people with real lives (i.e., jobs) can't possibly do that.

I do know this one thing for sure: *IF* Ninteno is manufacturing this shortage and the resulting demand, the proof of that will come out eventually, and when it does they can kiss a huge chunk of those profits goobye to the lawyers and courts and fines they're going to face in many countries, including the US, for a whole host of unethical business practices, not least of which is manipulation of their own stock values. And *IF* that proof does eventually come out, all that goodwill they've built up with gamers and potential gamers will vanish like a drop of muddy water on hot asphalt, instantaneously and with a nasty residue left behind. Enjoy your day in the sun Nintendo, because I for one would not be surprised in the least to see it come to a crashing halt.

Thanks for the idea monkey_pirates. I checked that site out but right now the only person in my area with a Wii wants to trade it for a Boa or a Python?!?!? LOL I'll have to check out the Facebook exchange idea too.

LOL I'd probably do $450 for a used console with Super Mario Galay. :D

That's interesting braves25ss. In the past few months I've tried that *EXACT* thing at two different Best Buys (ater seeing ads) and they had exactly *zero* Wiis available. And my local Target runs Wii ads every other week and the people in their ackluster electronics dedpatment admit that they almost never actually have them available.

Thanks for the encouragement Lunar52. I was just looking at ebay (for the zillionth time) and seeing that every single Wii auctions for close to $400, and that's what they're still going for on Amazon as well. I seriously don't know what Ninteno wants people to do. I have a job, so it isn't like I can go camp out at stores waiting for a rumored shipment, or spend an hour on the phone every day at work and then take off in the middle of the day to try and go grab one at some place across town that got one in on a truck.

Thanks kidrock17xp but the last thing I've wanted to do in my Wii search was ask someone else to do it for me. I'm visiting my Mom in Louisiana over the Thanksgiving holidays and am considering looking down there for one. Maybe the lower population density means more stock....? At least that's whhat I'm considering at the moment.

zenszulu, can you recommend any places to order a Wii online? I know that stores like Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, Toys 'R Us, GameStop, Wal Mart, Kmart, and Amazon won't even let you click a "buy" button for a Wii, except for the few places selling 500 or 600 dollar bundles with games I'd end up sticking in a shoebox or selling at GameStop for 1% what paid for them.

I guess what really kind of aggravated me was seeing the videos and reading the rerviews of SMG and seeing how absolutely perfectly amazing it looks and knowing that I have no hope of playing it in the foseeable future.

I'm just curious if there's anyone else out there starting to think that the time spent looking isn't really worth it any more. Please folks, I am NOT bashing the Wii!!! If you've got one and are enjoying it then congratulations and more power to you. I just know that for me the months of looking off and on here in the Philadelphia area have started to leave a bitter taste in my mouth over the whole experience. On top of that, all the stories I read online indicate that there may not be reief in sight (Wiis sitting on the shelves of stores for more than a day). Maybe it's just the pessimist in me, but a year after launch I just find it extrardinarily difficult to believe that Nintendo doesn't have a hand in manufacturing this never-ending shortage.
