@illegal_peanut: not really a samurai. They reached big time, but it is what it is. It’s just a video game and it’s just Ubisoft. They only ever make 7/10 games or worse anymore. Just another wash cycle that I’ve already forgotten about. This laundry will never get finished.

@just1mohr: it’s a short article. If you’d have read the very first paragraph, you’d have your answer. The update will add an offline mode.

@erustenebrus: we’re not talking about Ghost of Tsushima, we’re talking about Assassin’s Creed. AC fans have been wanting a feudal Japan setting for a long time now. As I said, if it’s good who cares, it’s just an annoyance.

But it’s a Ubisoft game, so most likely it’s more of the same rinse and repeat missions with grindy and mind numbing open world activities, with nothing that’s actually worth exploring. As is the popular description “gameplay loop.” If everything is a tedious, boring loop (rinse and repeat), then I don’t want it. Make it interesting. Make missions, locations, activities, loot, and exploration unique and rewarding, instead of typical “loop” based boredom, where nothing is interesting.

Everyone is thinking it, so I’ll just say it. Why the black samurai? They finally made a samurai game and then made the actual playable samurai black, just to check that box. It’s not about skin color. It’s about logic. It’s dumb and forced, which makes it really cringey. People wanted an authentic Japanese setting and samurai.

If the game is good (doubtful), it doesn’t really matter that much, it’s just really dumb. Big wigs don’t care about authenticity anymore.

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is a good thing. Mass amounts of people and multiple devs working on a single game usually doesn’t work. The best games ever made (including EA’s best games) were made by smaller teams and by one developer.

EA is already utilizing their marketing mumbo jumbo speak to build hype. This and their mention of having “thoughtful” in-game ads in future games. More mumbo jumbo. There’s nothing thoughtful about in-game ads.

Not surprising one bit. This and Fable will probably both get cancelled or remain in development hell for years and release in a very bad state, if they release at all.

I’m not an Xbox hater by any means, but Microsoft has officially proven that they are incompetent and have no clue what they’re doing. Their list of canceled games and bad games keeps piling up. They are an utter joke at this point, setting themselves up for yet another failed console launch when the new systems come out. It’s time for change, Microsoft. Get your sh*t together.

@illegal_peanut: I think it’s mostly a matter of context and circumstances. Though I agree that he isn’t straight forward enough when he talks about his games. Regardless, his game presentations and hype has zero correlation with how he feels about Larian.

For f**k’s sake, you people are whiny and bitter down there.

And I’m sure every single one of you will be playing Elder Scrolls 6.

@illegal_peanut: that’s some extreme pessimism. Anybody in their right mind would say that about Larian and, as an RPG maker himself, I can guarantee that Todd admires Larian and their games.

He’s being nice, because he generally is nice and he genuinely likes Larian and their games, but that’s apparently unfathomable to you for some reason.

@silentmind: indeed. It took them a very long time, though, on account of only having one free hand.
