If an MS portable system was plagued with the overheating/software problems I've been hearing other people have had with their 360's, it might serve better as something like a hotplate or microwave oven! They could even toss in the 'red lights of death' to let you know when it's time to flip your food. To be fair, though, I have a 360 and it's been good to me. I only wish it didn't sound like a commercial airliner preparing for takeoff.

As far as the updated hardware bit... they're expanding the hard drive, sure, but they're removing the Emotion Engine chip, meaning there are going to be PS1 and PS2 games that future PS3 owners can't play on their shiny new investment. Their early adopter friends can, though, because they bought it before the chip was removed. That's more a downgrade than an upgrade if you ask me. I have an Xbox 360, and I have just managed to use up 12 gigs of the 20 gig hard drive. I see no reason that I should wait for the 80 gig version of the PS3 to come out if 60 will last me for ages. Not to mention the fact that the PS3's price is only staying "low" for a few months, and then it's gonna shoot back up to $600. And for a system that plays fewer of the games I already own? The answer to this question should be pretty straightforward - buy the PS3 early because later on down the road it'll be less bang for more buck.
