Confused by the title? Let me clear this up a bit then. In one corner we have Gears Of War. An acclaimed third-person shooter that revolutionized the cover system in games and brought on many new ways to mutilate your opponents in online matches. In the other corner we have God Of War. A superbe action/hack'n'slash/puzzle-ish game that revitalized Quick Time Events (QTE) and brought a refreshing take on hacking away at opponents.
Unfortunately both these great series are abbreviated to GoW, which makes it difficult to discern what game somebody might be talking about. It also upsets me whenever I see people reffering to Gears as GoW but I'll try to keep my opinion out of this as much as possible until the end.
This is where you come in, the hoardes of the gamespot forums. Which game do you think the acronym should refer to? Please give reasoning behind your answer, and don't just spam "GEARS!!!!11" or "Kratos PWNS!!" Let's keep this nice and clean and let the battle begin. I'll even start it off.
Like I mentioned earlier, it upsets me when people refer to Gears as GoW. God of War was the original GoW, and in my eyes, much more deserving of the acronym. The beautiful graphics for it's time, the amazing gameplay that brought me to play the game again and again, and the fact that you can't really refer to God of War in any short manner other than GoW. Gears of War on the other hand can easily be reffered to as Gears. While Gears does have better graphics than God of War, and some might argue better gameplay (despite being of a completely different genre, i.e. only fanboys and morons make that remark) God of War was here first, and first come, first serve.
