A True Idiocracy

I watched a movie a few years ago and had to add it to my collection. It truly epitomized in my mind the plight of the world, at least in terms of a secular point of view. My religion knows what the real problem is, so this is merely an observation from a wordly standpoint.

The movie is Idiocracy, a Mike Judge film. The premise involves the world becoming very stupid over the course of 500 years. They become so stupid, that they no longer can substain themselves. Their crops have dried up, and they believe that the best thing for them to drink is something similar to Gatorade.

I'm a teacher of two and a half years. I graduated from high school in 1998. First hand experience tells me that as the years go on, the dumber this world gets. Everyone lets everyone else tell them what to think. Everyone worries about hurting each other's feelings, so they don't tell each other when something is done incorrectly. Instead, they praise even the smallest accomplishment, creating a lazy moron who cannot take it when they can't do something. Therefore, if something is too hard, they don't do it.

Kids today are getting that way. They want the easy way through life, without the effort. They're lazy, and because of this, they are becoming stupider and stupider. Society spoils them and makes them believe that they can become rich and famous without any skill or effort. It's pathetic, but it's true.

I challenge you to find proof of the contrary. Idiocracy is, in fact, occurring as we speak. Watch the movie, and you'll see what I mean.
