This is more about Ubisoft, AC franchise, Activision, Cod franchise, Bioware, EA, ME franchise, BF franchise, DA franchise and in contrast, the old games,Blizzard (yah I know kinda strange Activision and Blizzard being together, but I still think Blizzard is doing good things), SC franchise CDPR and The Witcher franchise.
Before I will write my opinions I will present myself which is one important thing when you are writing something that some will see , or not :). Well my name is Vrincianu Andrei , I live in Romania, I work as an accountant and I am student , 24 years old prick :) gamer for 15 years (as a hobby)....
I just wanted to start this blog to speak my mind about the way some companies approach their fans and clients in contrast with some that , lets say,do a more ethical job when it comes to delivering a product to their fans and clients. Well I am shocked to say that more and more people are ready to jump in the water with the sharks, I am referring mostly at the last important release which was ME3. They are ready to pay for a DLC that may or may not change the outcome of an ending that most of us didn't like...The most troubling thing is that some still don't understand that this is a bad thing ,why should I pay for something that should have been good in the first place?? Still this isn't confirmed but I am sure EA and Bioware will make the jump and most of their fans will just ignore the issue and will just bow.........In contrast CDPR brought hope for the industry, they made some think that not all of the gaming companies are like EA , Activision with their map packs that cost 10$ and constantly bringing the same formula , the COD formula which I still can't understand how is it selling, or Ubisoft which brought the killer DRM which was broken by the pirates in the first 2-3 days of AC2 release and they still continue to squeeze the life out of AC universe by releasing an AC game every year. CDPR has brought hope because every time they made a mistake they tried to fix it fast and they respected their fans by always trying to make the game better by bringing new free stuff to the table. Yah they have their issues but every step they made indicated that they are on the right track, they deserve our money because they worked for it. When DA2 failed (Bioware brought a bad second game killing part of the Dragon Age experience which was made known by DA:O) The Witcher2 didn't , so I ask why is Bioware sinking and CDPR is wining terrain???......You should ask yourself that , I will not answer ....
EA is making a trend from being the bad guy but still managing to escape the wrath of their fans, why is that??? Are we ignoring the fact that they don't listen and they will never listen to their fans and clients because we will buy their DLC , day one DLC, DLC that is on the DVD but you need a f*** cd key to activate it???? The fun fact is that some beg for more. So I ask are we entitled to whine because a product is incomplete and most of the companies are approaching their clients with disrespect. Same crap with Ubisoft , they sunk lower than expected, from treating their fans and clients as pirates to day one DLC.....Many judge Blizzard for delaying their products, but to be honest Blizzard never brought a damaged product , they preferred to delay or stop than loosing their clients...And no Expansion pack isn't a DLC because expansion packs (remember the old days Diablo, Diablo 2, BG, SC every game had expansion packs) are meant for expanding your experience with the game not complete it as a DLC does now.
The way the companies are reacting to our needs is equal with the reaction of their clients. The game industry became bigger and has a lot to say in the entertainment department.Remember COD is one of the most profitable franchises, not even the BF franchise or SC franchise which is a "sport" in some countries, could compare with COD. As any industry it functions with money, and the love for creating something is rare. Remember Black Isle ??? It doesn't exist ......Westwood , the original creator of Red Alert and Command and Conquer series is gone and many more.....Well we should feel bad because it is our fault (piracy) for loosing so many great companies , so again if we are responsible for loosing some great companies and franchises why are we complaining when the big sharks want our money so bad?...So yah the reaction of the companies is equal with ours but does this give them the right to "abuse" their customer , the one that buys ???? No it doesn't, this alienates us more.
Their way of thinkig is easy to understand...client=$ $=valuable resource valuable resource=income income= happiness for the investors....Well I've skipped some things but the moral here is that clients aren't seen as humans they are numbers, every step a company makes is beneficial for them and if we are happy it is not because they intended to make you that way but you were in the way and you were lucky to receive something that makes everybody happy.......Yeah if most of us are pissed off then they start finding solutions , so we really need to be pissed to receive a finished product??Yes because most of the time they ignore every thing we say.....
The way some companies approach their clients and fans is something to think about, not because I've written some opinions of mine but because the way they are doing things is starting to get annoying....
Lots of luck to you all
