Add the Wiimote to the equasion.  Next gen, and part way through this gen, you will see peripherals just like the wiimote for ps3.  The old controlers are a dying breed.  Next gen time, with out a doubt, all console makers will have interactive devices much like nintendos wiimote.

The sixaxis...well it kinda has motion sensing.  I believe its more like directional sensing...thats just me.  Its limited as to how it can be used in a game.  And it lacks input back to the user.  Yea, sony shoulda just coughed up the money for the rights to use the rumble pack [remember now they lost a 90 million dollar lawsuit to a california company and thats why we dont have the rumble pack].

If you ask me, sonys desperate need to revamp the controler wasn't met at all.

I just want to know which you prefer. I prefer SIXAXIS, I don't like rumble all that much.theycallmeryan

They will balance it somehow.  Most likely separate the players that use different setups.

[QUOTE="jpbc9999"]That couldnt be further from the truth. Are you telling me my buddy who play Q3wave has no skill. He is prolly best player in community. K/M support for PS3 games would add to the learning curve. Games like quake are only possible with K/M. What would happen is anyone who wanted to remain competitive online would buy the following; Allsop metal mouse pad, and a logitec mx510. I guess a gaming keyboard to. All in all its under 100 bucks. People who have never learned to use a K/M cfg have got to go ahead and try it for atleast a few months. I gaurentee most will prefer that to controler.

I'm considering getting a PS3, and the biggest selling point to me is the mouse and keyboard support. I'm hoping that I can use the mouse/keyboard combo in FPS games. I used to play a lot of FPS games on the PC, now I can't afford the PC upgrades to keep up with the games. I tried some FPS games on PS2 but I never get used to using the joystick.

I haven't heard a lot of discussions on mouse/keyboard use on PS3. Does the current FPS games in PS3 support mouse & keyboard? Will future games support them? Anybody knows?

i hope they don`t, that would kill a possible serious PS3 online gaming community. The only thing youll see is unskilled gamers with a k/m. The gamepad is a challenge, it has a higher learning curve than k/m. Aiming is actually difficult at first, just like in real life. Every idiot can use a k/m. And the feeling of pulling a trigger is great, nothing like clicking on a mouse, oh god i hope Sony doesn`t make a stupid desition on this.

Nope, I didnt buy a 50 ich plasma, and a nice as recliner, to use a mouse and keyboard at a desk or tabletop. I want my wireless controller. Now once again, If they seperate the M/K and controller communities online, I have no problem, since that will keep it fair.

Nintendo is in the middle of proving there are more ways than a controler for input.  Honestly, what did you think all those usb ports were for?

Just so you know...the bandwith exchange from bd to processor is what they will be using bd-rom for.  Not additional space first.  So, ah, yea they are using bd for the games.  It will save a lot on loading time.  Honestly, ima turn my back on sony though.  If they dont cough up something...soon...event or no event....ima straight out boycott them.  Ill even buy the other system.

[QUOTE="Exeed_Orbit"]Well no one knows for sure, but my best bet is that the first and maybe even second generation of games won't even be using the BR disc. Not only due to the aforementioned point, but also due to the fact that they probably won't even need that much space in the first slew of games to come out.NICKnPSL

lol you guys are so funny. some companies have already annouced that first generation xbox 360 games will be on two discs and so forth and one has even said that they might have to use 4 dvd-9 discs to fit their whole game on it

REDFACTION 3.  Thats the only title that I want that isnt in current development [well no word on it atleast].  Probably THQ best shooter.   With new technology they could make that game open world/free rome.  Insane.  I never liked how the single play panned out.  But multyplayer was crazy.  Lets give a hollar for this title to be brought next gen [ps3 at least].

i dont know about u, but kk and other sony reps have never said the made the chip only to run on a quarter of its power.  tell me, even  though a boing 747 can run on one engine, would you fly in it if you knew only one outa the two are working?  not me.  if games come out that barely use any of the processing power of the cell they simply wont sell.  my bad on toung twister.  i just dont think theyd bother....why not just continue support on ps2.  this is the most worrying thing about ps3 at any rate, 8 spus [whatever they called] 7 working and one for redundency.  That means after factory process majority will have 7 or 8 working parts.  any with 6 or less ger recycled.  probably means they plan on using like 6.  who knows.  i sure hope they dont code only for 2.

[QUOTE="trick_man01"]yes, it's easy to develop for if your only using one or two cores if you try to use them all it becomes much more difficult

we know roughly the same info on ps3 that we did on ps2 at same time before release.  wasnt untill the annual feb ps conference that we got info.  the psp needed the hype for success.  you think people need anything other than the release date for this system...i dont.  thats all i want so i kn ow how much to save for how long and to preorder somewhere.  i have no doubts that this system will hit the shelves around my birthday in late may 06.  just chill.  before you know it [i hate to say this] youll be looking for info on ps4.

I doubt it will be a Spring Release. No gameplay footage, no price, no release date, nothing! We had all that info for like 6 months before the PSP came out. Spring is like 2 months away...mikekare79

[QUOTE="GAMERDAMER"]

But don't you think that if sony's psp costs $300 then ps3 will cost something more.

Wait can mods repsond back?

VonGak

The PSP doesn't cost 300USD. :| And it has a build in screen plus the small size makes it more expensive to make.

Another reason why the PSP is priced 250USD is because the demand is much higher than the production and when that happens in any liberal economy the prise will automatically be adjusted( anything else would be silly of Sony, especially because they are not going to sell less).

ps3, xbo2, and nin rev...all 400+ at debut. Remember dvd burneres....those things used to cost four bills...now you can get a DL one for 100 buck.....dvd media cost like a buck a disk. They wont flop either....for those of you stucl in the 90s or early 00....I must inform you the value of the dollar has plummeted. Meaning 300 when ps2 came out is arount at least 400 today. People will buy them. No...buy a pc cant really be don right with just 500...way more expensive...a video card and hd can cost more. i dont see them selling for less than 4 bills to start, maybe im nutts....just my theory.
