...after two years of use the launch consoles, particularly the 60GB have been dying due to the YLOD, Yellow Light of Death. Im here to let you all know this is happening, until this morning I was oblivious to this too. The 60GB and 20GB, have both since been discontinued and taken over by new versions, which have not reached two years old. So when these replacements for the 20GB and 60GB get to and over two years old, will they get the YLOD. Sony have never commented on the issue, proving their ignorance, even though this is a widespread issue which will only increase as PS3's older. i think u just need to take better care of you system. i own a 20 GB that i have had since launch, and it is working just fine. and i use my PS3 A LOT!
so i dont think the older systems are becoming defective.
