Thanks for the info! I wonder if my HP can handle a more powerful card - how can I verify the acceptable cards for my machine? :)

I thought my system would have no trouble with Empire Total War (checked it with System Reqs. Lab), but it is running slowly. Large-ish battles and even the campaign map are choppy. I've got the graphics options set fairly low (grass turned off, trees on medium, all the special options unchecked, etc.).
- Windows Vista (64) Home Premium, Service Pack 2
- Intel Core2 Quad CPU 2.66GHz
- 6 gigs RAM (three 2G sticks)
- ATI Radeon 4650, 1G (dxdiag shows almost 4G total memory for the card - is sharing a problem?)
- DirectX 11
The game looks great, but the performance issues are ruining it - thanks for any help!
A friend of mine has the Mac version of Civ 4. I was going to buy it for my PC to play via e-mail.
- Is is possible to PBEM between the two platforms?
- Do we both have to have the exact same version? (He has the "Gold" edition for Mac, and I'm trying to figure out which package to buy.)
Thanks for any help, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you both for the info. Civ 4 looks like a good bet, then. But what is the "port" a Mac thing? (Forgive my ignorance! :) )
A friend of mine and I have been trying for years to find a turn-based strategy game that we can play via e-mail. He has a Mac, and I'm running a PC. Any suggestions? Will the e-mail files exchange between the Mac and PC versions of Civ 4? Thanks!
