4.Odin Sphere : PS2: Released:May 22nd Rating: T

The story involves a magic artifact and a prophecy, but it's full of dramatic twists and turns to avoid feeling cliché. You start out playing as a valkyrie who is the daughter of a king, but after you beat the game you unlock new playable characters. There are five characters in all, and each one offers a unique perspective on the story.

A gorgeous visual treat for the eyes! Odin Sphere is drop dead beautiful! It plays like a storybook, with each chapter focusing on a different character. The characters are strikingly done, unlike anything seen before. A true gem awaits in this title!

5.Shin Megami Tensei Persona3: PS2: Released:Aug.14th Rated:M

P3 integrates dark themes and swiftly moves back and forth between extreme moments.Your social actions during the daytime enhance your your abilities at night when you summon your persona to fight through a demonic tower. The shocking imagery can't be shaken! The addictive gameplay mechanics will keep you coming back for more.

This is a quality role-playing experience that weaves distinctive gameplay elements into a fascinating story that unfolds slowly but keeps you constantly guessing. It's also extremely mature, but then again, any game that features your party members repeatedly shooting themselves in the head isn't for the feint-hearted!

6.Heavenly Sword : PS3: Released: Sept. 13th Rating:T

A dramatic tale of revenge sees Nariko, a fiery red-haired heroine, embark on a quest for vengeance against an invading King and his army. The story builds around the ancient Heavenly Sword, which once belonged to a powerful deity. It can never be wielded by a mortal without it slowly but inevitably draining their life-force.

When the invading King (voiced by Andy Serkis, aka Gollum of Lord of the Rings fame) destroys the warrior clan that guards the Heavenly Sword, the clan leader's daughter, Nariko, takes up the sword in a desperate fight for survival. Nariko must now pay the ultimate price as she embarks on one last mission of vengeance against the King and his army before her life is finally and irreparably overtaken by the omnipotent Heavenly Sword.

Heavenly Sword is a must play for the PS3. The cinimatics are phenominal. Although the storyline is short, it satisfies you, making you want part two! The gameplay mechanics are smooth. The motions and facial expressions are flawless!

7.Ratchet & Clank Future:Tools of Destruction : PS3: Released: Oct. 30th Rating: RP

After saving countless planets from dreadful doom and earning intergalactic mega-celebrity status in the process, Ratchet and Clank have taken some well-deserved R&R - again. Yet, Ratchet remains restless. An orphan of the universe, he has never known anything of his past, his family, or his Lombax origins. And no one, not even Clank, can fill that void.

Unfortunately for Ratchet, someone else is equally interested in Ratchet's origins: Emperor Percival Tachyon. In his thirst for revenge, the vile tyrant of an ancient race of foul insect-like monsters called Cragmites has festered an age-old grudge and is bent on wiping the last-known Lombax off the universe.

The expressions will steal your hearts! Al the fun you came to expect from a R&C title can be found here and then some! This is a must have title for PS3 owners!

8.Assassin's Creed : PS3: Released: Nov.13th Rating:M

The first game in the Assassin's Creed franchise is set in 1191 AD, when the Third Crusade was tearing the Holy Land apart. Shrouded in secrecy and feared for their ruthlessness, the Assassins intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. Players, assuming the role of the main character Altair, will have the power to throw their immediate environment into chaos and to shape events during this pivotal moment in history.

To sum up it up...dramatic, striking, most innovative and unique title of the year! The fluid movements, scenery, and plot wil keep you rivited from start to finish. My only complaint....too short! Then again....it is a planned trilogy...^_^

9.Elder Scrolls IV:Shivering Isles : PS3: Released: Oct.13th w/ GoTY Edition and Nov.20th on PSN Rating: M

Within the Realm of Sheogorath, players can explore the two extreme sides of the god's madness - the sublimely creative and the completely psychotic. Something is happening to the Shivering Isles and Sheogorath himself looks to you to be his champion and defend his realm and its inhabitants from destruction. Do you have the strength to survive his trials, tame a realm fraught with paranoia and despair, and wear the mantle of a God?

The Shivering Isles features a bizarre landscape split between the two sides - Mania and Dementia -filled with vast, twisting dungeons mirroring the roots of the trees they are buried within. You'll encounter more than a dozen new creatures including hideous insects, Flesh Atronachs, skeletal Shambles, amphibious Grummites. Throughout your adventure, you will discover all new items, ingredients, spells, and more, and have the talented craftsmen of Crucible and Bliss forge new armor and weapons just for you.

The Shivering Isles are a MUST HAVE for anyone whom has logged many hours into Oblivion. This expansion has some of the best writing of the year with Prince Sheogorath. If only all expansions matched the quality of this addition!

10.Uncharted:Drake's Fortune : PS3: Released: Nov.20th Rating:T

A 400-year-old clue in the coffin of Sir Francis Drake sets a modern-day fortune hunter on a exploration for the fabled treasure of El Dorado, leading to the discovery of a forgotten island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

The search turns deadly when Nathan Drake becomes stranded on the island and hunted by mercenaries. Outnumbered and outgunned, Drake and his companions must fight to survive as they begin to unravel the terrible secrets hidden on the Island.

Uncharted sets a new bar for cinematic storytelling! The audio is remarkable, visuals are awe inspiring, facial expressions top notch! Nathan Drake is a true hero for the PS3! A must have title for sure!

This concludes my Top 10 for 2007. It was extremely difficult to only choose 10 from last year, as there were so many other deserving titles as well. I hope you enjoy this list and leave your comments!

Next up in my new Everybody Loves Lists series will be my top 10 picks for 2008! Until later....GAME ON!!!!

Playstation 3 and Wii Anniversary

Yesterday marked the one year Anniversary of the Playstation 3. Today is my personal PS3 Anniversary. I remember the night well. I had my PS3 pre-ordered. I waited two days after it arrived before I picked mine up. Seemed like I just got lazy about going into town:lol::? It was about 8PM when I walked into my local GameStop. I had 1000.00 cash in my pocket and a million dollar smile! I told the boys I was there to pick up my PS3. They immediately tried to steer me to a 360 instead. One even asked me...why do you want a PS3? Especially a First Release model? My response was thus:

"I have always bought a first release Sony Playstation. Not once have I had any problems with my playstations. Not one bug ever affected mine. Until I ever have a problem personally with Sony, I will continue to buy and support Sony!"

I do not regret my choices then or now, one year later. To this day my playstation 1, 2, PSP, and ps3 have worked flawlessly! I have not had one single problem or issue. Sure, the launch games were slim one year ago. I purchased Resistance:Fall of Man and Dark Kingdom that night. I still play Resistnce every week! I still havent played DK yet:lol::? Then came Elder Scrolls:Oblivion......and I cannot even begin to say how many hours I have spent in Cyrodil:lol::? Sure...I have many other PS3 games! But Resistance and Oblivion have merited the release price of the PS3 many times over for me alone.

This year is choked full of great PS3 games! A ton coming this month alone! I will be getting Uncharted, Rock Band, Eye of Judgement, and HAze right off the bat! So many games....:? I already have ratchet and Clank: Tools! {Great game by the way} So, what is my overview of Sony's New console? Fantastic!! The online gameplay is great. The number of games coming will have something for every gamer taste, and quality is still a major factor of Sony Products!! The free online service, game demos, and videos are top notch. I do not regret getting my Launch PS3! It was...and still is worth every dime I paid for it!

WII:

I also have had my Wii since the Launch. At the time I only purchased Legend of Zelda:TWilight Princess. I STILL havent finished playing that game:? I played for about twenty minutes...give or take. The download games are not very good, let alone the online service. Sure, my family liked wii sports....at first. The novelty wore off rapidly though. We may play together once every 3 months! My Wii has been sitting on my shelf collecting dust bunnies. As far as I go, there are still no games I want coming this season. I have not had any technical issues with my Wii....but then again it has only been on for maybe 8 hours total. Maybe in the future my Wii might become a valid purchase for me. So far...it was a waste of money on my behalf.

IN CLOSING:

So there is my recap of the two Anniversary Consoles and what they are doing for me now. I, by no means, am bashing either unit. These are my personal preferences and views based on my individual gaming tastes. How is your PS3 and Wi doing? Do you regret your purchases or are you satisfied? What are your feelings for the future of these two consoles?

Until later......GAME ON!!!!!!!!!!

Shadow of the Colossus Review

Shadow of the Colossus in Review:

At it's core, SoC is an Adventure game in third person view. You have a sword, bow and arrows. You kill, what else, monsters. But calling this just another Action game is likee calling Lord of the Rings just another Fantasy novel with wizards and sword fights!Shadow is so much more majastic, with a unique mood and sense of scale and artistry that it becomes something truly great.
The story is in itself minimal, but moving.
As the game opens, you watch a young man on horseback journeying through a vast, gorgeous yet deserted wasteland. he enters a massive crumbling stone temple and gently lies the body of a beautiful girl on a sunlit altar. Black shadowy spirits rise ominously from the floor, but he draws his sword and they dissapate. A deep, godlike voice emanates from the skylight above, and the young man beseaches the Deity to return the maiden's soul.
The voice xplains that this can indeed be done ONLY if the young man uses his sword to slay 16 colossi who inhabit the land. Without hesistation, he agrees. It's a long beginning, but very cinimatic. It sets the melancholy atmospheric tone of the game perfectly.

Colossal Combat

Now for the meat of the game: the battles of course! They are epic; a boy and his horse against flesh and stone monstrosities often so massive, that they should have thier own zip codes. The basic premise is always the same: find a colossus inthe massive game world, discover a way to climb onto the beast itself, locate it's weak spot and jam your sword int the beast until it perishes.
Naturally, the colossi dont go down willingly and they differ wildly in thier size and shape: some humanoid, some animal, some walk, fly, swim, or burrow. Some are incredibly huge, some just down right gigantic! Thus...each requires a unique strategy to defeat, so each battle feels remarkedly fresh and innovative.
Though it's strengths are many, Shadow also labors under a few technical burdens. The texture shimmering and pop-in in the admittedly gorgeous landscape are cosmetic feeling. The colossi are flawless to the point of awe-inspiring, but other elements affect gameplay. The game chugs along at a jerky barely 30 fps frame-rate. Similarly, the camera's constant, although well meaning, quest to always give the most cinematic view finds it too often careening wildly about, or doggedly aiming either too high, too low, or off to one side. Battles are intense enough without having to wrestle the camera also.
Finally, partially because the camera is too mobile, the hors'es old school ****controls, up is forward, left and right pivot scheme makes it far too likely that you will charge directly in the wrong direction at the wrong time.
These concerns keep Shadow of the Colossus from earning a full 10 , and they ill be enough to put some of you off. However, I fully recommend that you perservere. This is indeed destined to be one of PS2's best and most unique games!

Final Breakdown
My final review Score is a 9 out of 10. A definitive title for the PS2 and all gamers!

Plusses: Amazing blend of artistic vision, white knuckle action, andd incredible moments. Innovative integration of fantastic elements
Negatives: Jerky mind of it's own camera, no surround sound, graphical chugging

Game On Explanation!!!

Okay everone! I have been asked numorous times why I say Game On. Here is the reason I always say it.

I started saying Game On back in 1977. I was 8 years old. I couldn't wait for my 5 dollar allowance on Saturday mornings. I would rush down to the corner laundramat and exchange it for quarters! I would then run back home waiting with anticipation for my father to do a couple chores. He would ask me every weekend why all the quarters, {He knew why}, and I would always reply To Game On Daddy!!

He would then drive me down to the local arcade. Yep! I LOVED pinball! Later there was centipede, Pac-Man, Galactica, Q-Bert, you get the point Then came the Atari, genesis, nintendo, and so on! OMGosh! 28 years!! :? :?

Gosh, how I miss those days of youth spent with my Father and hearing him laugh! Those memories will remain in my heart forever. My Daddy was and still is my Hero! :D Up until 5 years ago he would still get me to say Game On as I still love my games. He passed away and I still say it. Now my children say Game On Mom and one day  i will be saying it to my grandkids as I am playing the latest Playstation, nintendo, and whatever else we have for gaming!

So, I hope this sheds some light on my phrase. If it gets annoying, I apologise. I do not intend to offend anyone. It is an integral part of me as much as the games themselves. If my saying bothers you, let me know. I will try to refrain from using it in your blogs. But be warned, you will always see it in mine! Until later, Game On my friends! :D

ADVENT CHILDREN : Blessing or Curse?

Playtime: 1 hour 40 minutes

Graphics: 10

Sound:      9

Story:       9

Advent Children is an incredibly beautiful and action-based movie based on one of the greatest RPG's ever made. The characters are brought to life with crisp detailing and great realistic movements and emotions. The intense battle scenes will take your breath away. All of the old gang re-appears, giving joy to those that played the original game.

This is where I feel that AC was a little weak. The movie was great IF you played the game. There were many areas of the game that you never see in the movie. The story fell short of answering questions to the ending of the game. What is happening in the other towns? Do people still live in any of the Sector Slums? How DID Cloud meet up with Zack? What happened after they were together? How did Zack disappear? What became of Nibelheim, Calm, and the other towns? Why didn't we get to see the Golden Saucer?

Now I know that a lot of you say that we will be getting other games/movies for these answers. I feel that we deserved them now. When I first learned that this movie was being made, I thought that we would at least get to see the world we fell in love with, not just Midgar and the Ancient's Forest. I thought that The Golden Saucer would be seen in at least a few glorified shots! The Zack/Cloud issue was always my top question and thought that we would get more answers to this.

The back story could of been expounded on a little better for people who never got to play the game in my opinion. I can see where people do not catch what is truly going on. Even for the rest of us that DID play the game, a better synopsis would have been a true treat!

I enjoy the fact that Marlene is narrating, but early on in the movie, her voice is hard to hear. The voice-acting was great, just a little strained in some scenes. The movie has wonderful music, and great battle sounds.

Overall, I personally love this movie. I have been waiting a very long time for it. I will watch it too many times to count! I am disappointed with Square for not answering all of our questions and dragging our beloved game out way too far! Why should we have to get a cell-phone, PSP, and possibly the PS3 to get the full story? Shame on you, Square!! Of course, I own the PSP and will be getting the PS3. I just feel that we ALL shouldn't HAVE to!!! :?

What are your views about this? Do you feel disappointed and let down by Square? Do you agree/disagree with what I feel? Why? Be sure to let me know, and thanks for your time!!:D

Game On My Friends!!8)

Spoooky Stormy Night Toooo Quiet!!

Woa! I have won the shopping battle, only to gleefully return home to my friends, and what do I find?

Utter Silence! As I valiantly fought the shopping minions off, I am now crushed. Upon returning, I find that all of my friends are MIA!! Are they just captured, or have they fallen to a frightful demise?

I look for a sign, any sign of what has happened. I do not smell any blood! Could my eyes be too clouded with tears to see the trail of shattered objects from their heroic struggles?

Oh Gawd!! What have I done?! Why did I leave them behind? Why did I not return sooner? If only I hadn't shoved that little old lady down to get the last copy of SSX......

I can hear their voices....

Oh well, I guess I will just sit here and play my PSP............Game On.....game on????
