I was thinking awhile back about ideas that games still havent tried and this one came to mind: What if in a game(probably combat based) the player controlled character started at the maximum level and got weakeras the game went on.

A bit wacky sounding I know, but hear me out, there are some pretty cool ideas that could be integrated into a game like this. For one thing, the game would have a much more plausable difficulty curve than most on the market not, as instead of the enemy developing new skills and higher health in artificial, contrived ways, the enemy could stay at the same level but become harder to fight because you are becoming weaker.

Additionally, this type of leveling could really enhance the right story in a poignant way. What if it were a redemption story, but the protagonist was slowly dying from cancer. Or maybe a something more similar to the weakening of Frodo, where the proximity to evil is slowly devouring the spirit and power of good in the main character.

Finally, this could be a cool way to encourage a stealth aspect in a game. Imagine if for each enemy you kill you become a bit weaker(conscience?), encouraging you to sneak around them to maintain yourstrength.

I think this could be a pretty cool, refreshing approach to tired game design, thoughts?

I already called microsoft and my bank to report the fraud, and they shut down my live account until its investigated. That doesnt explain why xbox.com is down for me though, or why I cant register new xbox live accounts on my console.

This seems like a possibility given what I've seen happen in the past 48 hours. Last night my live account was broken into, my usernames/passwords were changed, and $125 was deducted from my debit card. At the same time, xbox.com has been down forat least 48 hours, and registration for new xbox live accounts is closed. Does anyone else think there's something a bit off?

It seems to me like the Wii U is just a next gen version of the experiemental gamecube/gba connectivity offered in a few games earlier in the millenium such as Zelda: Four Swords Adventures(remake/sequel on the way no doubt) and a whole bunch of other games. Can anyone else see the possibility of wireless 3ds and Wii U connectivity in the next few years?(THREE SCREENS!)

Anyone else remember "Freedom Fighters"? That game was pretty ill, and all the coverage of the manhattan levels in the next COD is reminding me alot of it(especially the shots of what look like russian subs in the harbor, identical to the intro to freedom fighters). Heres to hoping theres some homage to the games that paved the way for modern shooters in this next realese.

I am currently reaserching for a reaserch paper on the controversy over comic books in the 1950s. I am finding a huge number of parrelels to the current video game controversies. I could explain these to you in detail, but I think that this will explain everything: http://www.seductionoftheinnocent.org/LadiesHomeJournalNovember1953Page50.htm

I like going to gamespot for reference on the go, but the current format is awful on that device. Many websites have made alternate, simpler versions of their main pages, which show up on mobil devices like cellphones and PSPs, and iPhones. Anyone know when gamespot might develop somthing like this for their own site?

So I got Far Cry 2 about a week ago and I love it. The problem is that the online uses a lobbey system, which requires the host to manually start a game. At least twice in the last hour in which I have been playing online I have gone in to a filled up lobby, in which are 15 players are ready but the inactive host is not starting the game. Why havent developers created a host override system so that players in a lobby can start a game even if the host is taking a (very long) dump.
