I don't think you understand the UK military. In the UK, the requirements for guys are much higher than the ones in US. The training is tougher and longer than the USMC bootcamp for the RMC because they need good marines not just more bodies. Both Rangers and RMC are elite shock troopers. In fact their selection is very similar because the British Commandos trained the Rangers during WWII and pre 1960s. Ranger school can be easily passed by a green beret (marines, not army special forces) and Ranger tabbed can pass the first phase of the RMC pretty easily. Also, the 32 week training is not just selection and bootcamp. It includes a very tough combat training at the end which is (again) similar to the Rangers. I've seen both training and I gotta say the similarities are there. RMC basic training teaches and also selects guys. The purpose of the RMC is to get guys ready for war right after their basic training and it does it well. RMC have proven to be great marines and better than average. They are much much better than a regular USMC. In fact, that's the whole difference of both military forces. UK is not as big as the US so they need more highly-trained personnels than just numbers. THe USMC has Force Recon, Battalion Recon, FAST, and so on but the Royal Marines just have the SAS and SBS because they are already "elite" right after their training. And not to forget the advanced courses a marine can take right after the 32 week training, they also have another course which takes another 28 weeks to complete. Some also get into exchange programs in the US and I've heard some even trained with Rangers, but they mostly train with Reconnaissance marines. Here, read this. It's very helpful: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_does_the_British_Army_and_Marines_train_longer_and_tougher_than_the_US See, you guys now understand why brits need to be more "elite" than americans. They NEED to be. Also, focus more on the marines side.
