I was really looking forward to Far Cry Primal until I read that all the dialogue will be spoken in a native language and we will have to read subtitles to follow the story or mission objective. That is crazy. All the next gen graphics and facial animation work will be just a waste of time because we will spend all of our time looking down at subtitle text and miss it all.

Does anybody else think this is a bad idea for a video game or is it just me. Foreign movies with subtitles is bad enough but an interactive game relying on subtitles is ridiculous. I struggle to read subtitles fast enough at the best of times so I will miss a lot of information and miss a lot of visuals. That detracts from the story, not improve it.

OK this is what I think really happened.

Infinity Ward wanted to keep MS happy with lowest common denominator port parity. They lowered PS4 to 720p. But a side effect merged. The PS4 had surplus power and started rendering far more than 60fps, overshooting the 60HZ refresh rate of the hardware. This caused severe judder as completed frames had to be dumped in the trash. Missing frame judder is far more noticeable than a frame rate drop with all frames in tact.

The PS4 and XB1 are too far apart in terms of power for port parity.

Rather than admit they had deliberately gimped the PS4 and had to u-turn the abortion, they claimed it was an error that got past the quality control. I know COD is always full of bugs but the quality control are not that bad to miss a resolution drop from 1080p to 720p. Shame on you Infinity Ward, for sucking up to MS, gimping PS4 and then lying to cover it up. Unforgivable.

[QUOTE="CosticRider"]Pretty hard to argue with this... both the heads of Take-Two AND Rockstar have said it's not happening... http://g5c.co/r Those who were holding out may want to make those preorders now!

Nowhere have they ever said it is NOT coming to PS4 or PC. Read it again. All the Rockstar quotes simply justify why they have made it for current gen first. It is the websites that add the words that it is not coming to next gen. Rockstar want to sell it to the mass market first. If they mention a next gen version, some people may choose to wait. They don't want that. They want to sell it twice if possible. If no next gen was planned, Rockstar would say "We are not making GTAV for PC or next gen". They have never said that. Why not? Because the secret ports are waiting in the wings, ready for when the current gen sales start to dip 6 months after launch. Unfortunately for Rockstar, I've worked that out and have chosen to wait so I can play GTAV in full HD quality smooth as butter. If I'm wrong, I'll simply buy the PS3 version at a later date. I'll have plenty to play in the mean time with Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed 4 etc. If your wrong, you'll have to buy GTAV twice and replay it without the excitement of new discoveries, or miss out on playing such an epic game in the full quality it deserves. I'm 100% certain that I will be playing it on PS4 6 months after the current gen release.

Yes it should and I'm certain GTAV will come to next gen and PC. The only question you have got to decide is shall I buy now and play it straight away in reduced quality because I'm so hyped by it all, or wait 6 months to play it in superb quality. For me, first impressions count and I only want to play the game once, so I will wait and play the HD PS4 version with zero screen tear, ultra smooth frame rate, high res textures, smooth shadows, zero pop-in, huge draw distances, complex NPC AI routines and amazing physics. More of everything basically because the PS4 can. I want the version I play to be like those screenshots they keep showing us. Those screenshots are current gen, true, but they are taken from the development PC master (current gen PC). A deception, but not a lie. The PS4 version will be very close to those awesome PC screenshots with that high quality smooth boketh blur. You are going to be disappointed though if you think the PS3 version will look anything like the quality we are seeing in those amazing screenshots with that super smooth boketh blur and beautifully ani-aliased edges. Once we get the PS4 with a HD version of GTAV, we will clearly see the different in motion and wonder why we naively even asked the question.

The PS3 and 360 versions are essentially ports of the high res PC master. The game is developed on master PC's linked to the dev machines, which creates optimised versions for those console architectures,. So the dev game is already running on a high spec PC using Rockstars specific hardware configuration. The PS4, XB1 and PS port will come directly from the PC master because they are using the same architecture. The hard work has already been done, so porting to PC and next gen will be cheap and easy, providing an extra revenue stream when the current console GTAV sales start to decline in 6 months time. The winners are those who wait and buy the PS4 version so they can play the game in full quality and enjoy graphics like those in screenshots Rockstar have kindly provided us. Notice how Rockstar call them 'current gen', not 'current gen console'. They are current gen PC taken from the PC master. Technically a deception, but not a lie.

Of course Rockstar are not going to say it's coming to PS4 and PC. They have to sell all those PS3 / 360 versions first and make millions to cover the development costs. Nowhere have they ever denied a port is not in the works because they will arrive later. Read this: http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/50871/asked-answered-gtav.html The crucial sentence, "The only versions of the game that we have announced are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3' Notice the words " have announced" as apposed to "have made". If the line had read, "The only versions of the game that we have made are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3', then the possibility of a PS4, XB1 or PC version are dead in the water, but they are not. The game will have been produced using high resolution assets on a PC connected to the dev kits and then ported out to PS3 and 360 as low res optimised versions. Porting to PC would require about 6 months work to cater for all the PC configurations out there including any new features they wish to add. The game already runs on the Rockstar master PC configuration. Porting to PS4 would be even quicker because they only have to make one configuration and it is very similar the PC master architecture. Make no mistake, GTAV will come to next gen and PC. The hard work has already been done, ie making the game, and porting difficult costly optimised versions to current gen consoles. Once they have got their money back in sales and creamed a nice big profit, they will push out the next gen and PC versions because those will add extra revenue and are the long term versions of the game. The multiplayer versions we will all be playing going forward in 2 years time, once you have bought the game a second time off a smiling Rockstar. The sweetener may be the inclusion of all the DLC as a sort of special next gen Game of the Year edition, so it's hooray for those who wait. Those screenshots are current gen, true, but they are taken from the development PC master (current gen PC). A deception, but not a lie. The PS4 version will be very close to those awesome PC screenshots with that high quality smooth boketh blur. GTAV will look far better than GTAIV on all platforms and will definitely arrive on your current gen consoles so don't get hot under the collar, but you are going to be disappointed if you think the PS3 version will look anything like the quality we are seeing in those amazing screenshots. You have got to be realistic and refuse to believe the hype, even if fans like us desperately want to. The choice is yours. Rockstar would prefer you not to have that choice for financial reasons, but I feel obliged to tell it as it is :)
