@cainetao11:

When there are 1-2 games a year that are worth playing I am entitled to being angry about the douchebags who ruined my hobby. In the pre-360 days 70% of games were fine with me. Not anymore.

@NFJSupreme:

He didn't have to care at all. It could have been pure accidental.

If he had kept Halo on Mac, Xbox would't have taken off. No matter if it used to be am RTS or whatever. Xbox wouldn't have taken off and all the bad things that came with Xbox.

-Pay to play online

-FPS overflow

-forcing PC devs to develop for consoles, therefore weakaning pc gaming

-dumbing down games

-those pc devs brought dlc to consoles (bethesda)

-huge patches from lazy pc devs

-creating the dudebro market -> devs don't have to cater to us gamers anymore

etc etc

I could go on

I obviously exagerated in the title to have some fun, but I'm dead serious about the content of my post.

if Halo had become a Mac exclusive like Steve wanted it to. Xbox would have never taken off in the way it did.

The fight for Halo is the one important battle Steve Jobs lost, and it led to a decline in average game qaulity for consumers in the console market. While Sony and Nintendo offered games that were full of charm and good level design, Microsoft went all-in with dudebro games and PC ports.

Remember Diablo on PS1?

Me neither, because PC games weren't designed for consoles and they generally sucked bad on them. PC ports were the shovelware in earlier gens.

With Microsoft out of the picture we wouldn't have to pay to play online, Bethesda & Bioware etc would have continued to design games for PC with the strength of the platform in mind and the dumbing down of difficulty in games is also on MS. Games wouldn't be multiplat that often because Nintendo and Sony systems have always had drastically different hardware design, leading to more exclusives being made.

With MS out, think about what we would have got. It's all we ever wanted from Sony atleast. They would continue to make beasts like the PS3 which could rival the best PCs out there for it's time. A powerful system with games being third-party exclusives and designed for the PS3 specifically, making them better. Just like in the PS1 and PS2 days.

And PC devs like Bethesda and Bioware would be still making PC exclusives specifally designed and tailored to PC.

Nowadays PC gamers play console games with higher performance and brag about them. LEL!

Would you rather have 150 multiplats or 150 exclusive? Think about it.

tl:dr Steve Jobs could have stopped the XBOX by securing Halo as an exclusive, and gaming on all platforms would be better off altogether.

Like I said in my thread about Sony Exclusives, Uncharted 1,3 and TLOU are turds. Completely agree OP.

Can't wait to jump on the Nintendo bandwagon with NX since Sony & Microsoft are pissing me off too much.

When is Chrono Trigger a third party exclusive?

Anyway I agree and disagree with various points you've made but it's late here, another time.

My mistake. I didn't know it was on the SNES aswell. Fixed.

First off, yes i'm new.

It just hit me today- I was wondering why the PS4 is so dry first party wise- and how they are generally receiving lukewarm reviews. For example: Knack, Killzone Shadowfall, Infamous Second Son.

Now you might be saying, wait a minute, what about Bloodborne, Ratchet & Clank and the upcoming Persona 5? Games we core gamers are excited about, generally speaking. Then it hit me- these are all exclusives not made by Sony. Then I started to think:

Think about your favourite Playstation games of all time.

Crash Bandicoot -> Third-Party Exclusive

Spyro -> Third-Party Exclusive

Metal Gear Solid-> Third-Party Exclusive

Final Fantasy 7 -> Third-Party Exclusive

Persona 4 Golden -> Third-Party Exclusive

Sly Cooper -> Third-Party Exclusives

Resident Evil -> Third-Party Exclusive

Demon Souls -> Third-Party Exclusive

Do you get it? Sony has never been that great at making games themselves. They're very hit and miss with their own titles. Let's look at last gen.

Naughty Dog made one masterpiece: Uncharted 2 (1,3 are turds, TLOU is one of the most overrated games of all time 7-8/10 at best)

Guerilla Games: Killzone 2 is amazing (1,3 are meh)

Santa Monica: GoW 3 sucked compared to 1 and especially 2

too just name the most prestigous studios. I'm not a Microsoft fanboy by any means they suck as well making games for consoles. Age of Empires on PC was amazing though.

I hate to say it but from a masterpiece to generic trash ratio, Nintendo is by far the best publisher out there. And I never even owned a home console from them before, which will change with NX.

edit: Removed Chrono Trigger
