Today figured I would play one of my games online but when signing up for the network it asked for a credit card, I thought it was free for the PS3 unlock the XBOX, do they charge you and if so how much? If not why do they want my credit card?

dont you find it at all convenient the 360 breaks down 4 days after the warranty expiredAbsynthetic
That's what I was thinking, you know why I'm really so mad??? On the phone I swear to god (and I don't swear to god unless I mean it) the guy told me "Well it's nothing wrong with the console because you had it for over 1 year (I had it for 369 days) and you enjoyed it for that time, but electronics are bound to breakdown sooner or later" WTF?????!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the advice jackie, I actually just did that and they reduced it to $30 to fix which pisses me off even more, if they know this is a major problem they should fix it for free and why did you ask me to pay $150 upfront then? The price should've started at $30. So I'm sending it in to get fixed, then I'm selling it on Ebay, and I'm cracking open my new ps3 tonight

It's literally like someone engraved a circle around the outside of the cd. But I wouldn't suggest anyone try this because they said when that happens it can break the disc reader. The reason I tried it is because mine was broke anyways. So they basically were telling me if you own a 360 and while it's playing if make sure no one touches it, don't move it, pick it up, bump it in anyway. If you have to eject the disc they said be careful not to bump it, if you do then it can scratch the disc ($60 down the tube) and break your 360 ($150 to get it fixed).

Thanks everyone, I'm not a fanboy at all, I just like good consoles. But for the 360 to be having WIDESPREAD discread errors and to still charge you $150 to get it fixed, it's ridiculous. If I pay $150 to get it fixed you should atleast give me another 6months to 1year warranty on it, but do you know what their warranty is??? 1 month! Then they want you to pay another $50 for a 2 year warranty. To top it all off if you have a 360 beware, they told me over the phone that if you have it laying flat and playing games that if you bump it in any way, even just to hit the eject button, the disc reader is so close to the disc that it can scratch it, giving it "the ring of death". So I tried it, I took a old music cd and did just that and took it out, and sure enough was a pefect circle scratch all the way around the disc making it unreadable.

In my opinion it plays great games but it's a piece of trash and I won't ever buy one again. Time to crack open the PS3.

Ok here's the strange situation I'm in and I need help. I have a 360, I got it to "wait" until ps3 launched. But when the prices were going crazy I decided to sell my preorder, figuring when they are available in stores around spring again I can go pick up a ps3 then. So my friends and I all got a PS3, I sold mine but my friends got lazy (don't really know why) and kept theirs BUT THEY NEVER OPENED THEM. So right now we have 2 just sitting upstairs and now since they ain't going to make any money on them they are just sitting there.

So I was getting ready to play my 360 today and I started getting the dreaded "disc unreadable error". This is a error A LOT of people are getting, so I called customer support and they want me to pay another $140 PLUS shipping to send it in for them to fix. To make matters worst my warranty just ended 4 days ago. So I was arguing with them saying, this isn't some small thing, tons of people are getting this problem so it's something wrong with the disc reader, but they really don't care.

So my question is this, I'm done with Microsoft and the 360, BUT I don't want to go upstairs and open one of the the original PS3's if they have been having problems as well, so should I sell the original ps3 and wait a little while until they are in stores to get one that was just made? Or are most of the original ones good? Did they have any problems at launch? Please help.
