The iphone has potential but it's not being taken seriously by developers. It's littered with shovelware like the Wii and I've yet to play a killer app on itblushield

Apple has just entered the gaming market and i believe that the killer app might come with some kind of new device or even a new touch/iphone from apple. I bought a tech magazine some time ago (T3) that predicted that apple would launch an iGame machine next year. If this is true apple is now preparing for it, because gaming is the only thing apple doesn't own in the entertainment market.

I don't agree. I'm sure game markers (aka developers developers developers developers) can come up with some great ideas without even using buttons. Ofc iphone is not going to be able to run GTA without buttons, but like i said that's not the concept of iphone games

I guess it just depends on how competitive they want to be in the market. and how seriously they want devs to take them. without buttons you can feel, the iPhone will always be marginalized.Dreams-Visions

Yep, if they want to go mainstream they might have to allow a controller, but again if they continue selling iphone like this, developers (developers developers developers developer-balmer) will eventually turn to iphone like they are starting to do with the wii. Also the App store is always a plus.

That football game that was showed in the keynote with buttons on the screen just a complete disaste...Let's hope they won't go like that.

I agree that Jobs exaggerated a bit with his affirmation because it's simply impossible to prove that the iphone is better than ds/psp. But it's also impossible to prove that ds/psp are better. The best you can do is compare them in several points and not just say "it sucks".

It all depends on what you are comparing, like DS and psp have a way better game collection, but the "real" iphone games are just coming. You can also say iphone/touch are expensive but i can argue that you can get alot of games for free and the new games are just 7€ and so on.

Just because DS and psp were made especially for games, it doesn't mean they are necessarily better.

Like Jobs himself said "[itouch/iphone have a...] whole new class of games". I don't think there's any need for controllers because the concept of games for iphone is just different from the other handhelds. It kinda reminds me of wii vs ps3/xbox.
