i'm a pc gamer, i've owned consoles from every generation but i call my self a pc gamer, why? well pc gaming offers the most comprehensive gaming experience, i'm not just talking the high end crysis experience, but you got tons of independent games and modding projects for the poor gamer some titles like ut2004 offers as much playability as 20 console games, thanks to not only a great variety of included content but tons of free professional caliber mods and addons. titles like the simbin hits GTR, GT legends, GTR2, and Race 07, may not beat out project gotham for sexiest racer, but they make forza wish it could be that authentic, and each simbin title launches for 20 dollars and doesn't look ugly by any stretch of the imagination. another facinating fact is that the sim bin games are releasing anually, wow, and each anual release is so different from the previous that you ask your self, what is tony hauwk doing wrong? even measly EA games like the Battle field franchise have taken on lives of there own on the pc thanks to a huge community. epic might be angry with the pc as a platform(check on IGN) but they never challenge the fantastic nature of the community that is the pc gaming. the only problem with pc gaming, and there is one, is the lack of party games, split screen doesn't exist(it should) fighting games don't walk here, and platformers are a little scarse. now titles like the prince of persia games may play better with a gamepad(and there is game pads for pc) but the prince of persia games look worlds better on the pc than on the consoles. i bought the prince of persia games for my game cube after playing it on the pc, wow, then i saw the ps2 version i think i had a siesure. the visuals for the pc looked a good three years ahead of the console, textures were almost non existant, polly counts and resolutions in general made the beautiful art design of the game fade into nastiness, or should i say pixilate. i love my consoles, but my pc beast is my baby, and my pet, even if i swear at it and hit it from occasion to occasion for getting a virus or crashing after filling up the OS hard drive. currently the pc is the strongest experience, the only problem with the pc is that the hard ware manufacturers and retailers(dell, gateway, hp) don't make sure that every pc is game capable, and honestly any game capable machine is a better computer for media, music, video. about the only thing integrated graphics can do i email on a xp OS. even with everything that is wrong with a pc as a platform i won't forsake it, why, cause on the pc i don't pay for stupid as crap stuff like Downloadable content. it's all free and it comes regularly. i just downloaded two new maps for world in conflict, without paying for a thing. honestly no matter what you tell yourself a pc is a better deal than a ps3(even if i do want one). for 600 dollars you can build a gaming rig that will play most of todays games at 720p resolutions, and a few at 1080p, it will be near 100 percent backwards compatable with a little guidence, games for the system cost 50 dollars max, drop in price three times as fast, and have ten times the support of a console game, to patch a pc game costs a developer far less the process and cost for 360 and ps3 patches and updates takes longer and microsoft hates free content, they say it's bad for buisness(basically they don't want EA to have to compete with epic or valve for generosity) you can play online, "arcade" games for ten times cheaper, or just for free. you have access to the largest aspiring gamer pool, mods exist as do community content, like AI boots, AI tweaks, community patches, community map packs, try building a gaming rig pc and buying a game like orange box, and ut 2004 and then survive on that for a year, heck for three years the only thing i played was half life and half life mods, counter strike, day of defeat, fire arms, team fortress classic, natural selection, some zombie mods that made the original resident evil games look cudly. then i went to battle field 1942, played forgotten hope desert combat, the battle field vietnam for piont of existense. then ut 2004 for the dozens of mods i won't bother listing. you see what happens, i buy one game and literally play it for more than a year. i don't play the same level with shotty and snipers(halo). nope i get a ever changing experience. currently i've gotten to buissy to dip in the mod pool but this summer i'll be back at it. you probably think, gosh i need to have my xbox esk community, well we call that steam. sorry for seeming like i'm ranting i just was playing some pc games and reading some stuff online and wanted to put my thoughts into writing.
