Movie critics provide opinions and analysis on movies. They've also been exposed to movies that have probably done better or worse things in comparision to what they're reviewing.

Simply put ... if you don't like what they think, who cares? You have your own mind and tastes. I love the Austin Powers movies and those have crap ratings on RT, but they're funny to me.

Uhhh the austin powers movies are actually decently rated on rottentomatoes. especially the first one. Anything higher than 60-65 is fresh on that site.
