PC vs Game Console (online gaming)

The following is merely a personal opinion in which no condescension is intended.

We now live in a world where two incredible technologies have merged their components and capabilities to form an amazing creation: online gaming. Indeed, the concept of online gaming has existed for more than a decade in PC games. However, the idea was only recently implemented in video game consoles that we see today. Surely this isn't a new mind-blowing innovation, yet the introduction of online functionality into game consoles popularized the game industry in and of itself.

Perhaps there have been, and will continue to be, more PC gamers in the world today than console gamers, but game consoles tend to be considered more prominent in the market, especially in terms of accessibility. Take for example a game that has been released on multiple platforms.

Now suppose the game is a bit sophisticated from a technical perspective (graphics, animations, physics, etc.), this would probably have some implications on the System Requirements which is needed for the game to operate adequately on your computer. A customer would have to carefully examine the requirements before actually purchasing the product, whereas for consoles, such frustration normally does not exist due to the console's simplicity. A game console is bought primarily for the purpose of gaming, all the other multimedia features are like bonuses.

Thus, when a game is under development, it is being tailored precisely to accommodate the playability of that very device. Now granted, most computers nowadays are technologically advanced and equipped with high-performing processors capable of handling such hi-tech requirements, but the question arises, is it affordable to everyone?
