Game announcements before E3

Usually game developers wait until E3 to bring all the big announcements but this has not been your ordinary year. We have had Cliffy B on a late night talk show revealing Gears 3 to the Supreme Court hearing testimony on maybe banning "violent" games.

The following are the big ones:

Multi-Platforms

1. Call of Duty: World at War 2

2. Fallout 4

3. Resident Evil 6 (with brand new mechanics!)

4. Bioshock 3,4,and 5

Playstation 3

1. Uncharted 3

2. Heavy Rain 2

3. Resistance 3

4. Little Big Planet 2

XBOX 360

1. Gears of War 3

2. Mass Effect 3

3. Left 4 Dead 3

A hint at Boarder lands 2 at the GDC could possibly be an E3 announcement.

I'm Back!

This year I gave up blogging for lent. Technically I have till Sunday but I've received many emails about what happened to me and my posts. We have many topics to catch up on and so forth such as:

1. Nintendo's dominance in hand held and console systems

2. Sony and the push of 3D technology in home and theaters

3. Sony and the big lies

4. Microsoft and Apple

5. iPad and iTunes

6. The Big Hollywood Remake Machine

and many various others to numerous to name. Happy belated Easter and we will start shortly.

George...Just Say No!

I'll make this short and sweet...Mr. George Lucas you have created a lush mythology that I loved as a boy. You improved the films with the special editions and wrecked the mythology with the prequels. To my surprise, you announced that you want to redo all six films in 3D. Please hand over the property before you further alienate us the fans.

2010: Remakes, Reboots, and 3D HDTV!

Here we are in a world that has now embraced HD television and the Blu-Ray format. A world where the greed of an entire generation almost put the entire world into the first global depression. What do we have to look forward to? Remakes - this is hollywood's attempt at still keeping a franchise viable, has a built in fanbase, if it fails you can charge it to timing, if it is successful it is genius. Reboots - same vein as remakes it breathes life into failed or lupe warm franchise. Sequels - bleed the idea until you guessed it remake or reboot stage. This is hollywood's simple business circle of life, 2010 is keeping this hope alive.

Sony fresh with scars from the hd format wars, console wars, and their failed attempt at handheld redesign (PSP GO) now wants to push with the rest of the entertainment industry the 3D HDTV on you. Yes, now that black friday and the season is over and you are now trying to stomach paying $2,000 for a television - the future wants more money and another purchase. I hope this movement is stopped before it gets out of hand.

Nintendo, the winner of the console wars so far has now ushered in this wave of motion control obsession from Sony and Microsoft. Why? It is novelty, sales have all but stopped in Japan and is slowed so bad here in the US that rumors of the Wii HD or next console is keeping the fan boys alive. Nintendo is failing because you still need the core gamers and 95% of games coming out for the system suck. I said it...suck graphically via a modern day Atari.

Well all I can say is happy new year and let's see how the rest of this 2010 will treat us!

Reviews:

Due to whatever type of technical problems at MovieTome many movies that I've seen or not in the database or will not act as previous films that posted fine in the past so here we go:

1.) Gamer -  Rate 2 - The premise had some much promise yet suffered from poor execution.

2.) Paper Heart  - Rate 4 - I loved this film until it lost me in the final 25 mins.

3.) Old Dogs - Rate 5 - The entire theater was laughing and The last cameo of Bernie Mac !

4.) The Blind Side - Rate 5 - I loved this cliche sports movie !

5.) Love Happens - Rate 3 - Cliche and trite love story!

6.) Saw 6 - Rate 5 - I loved this and I think is the best of the series.

7.) World's Greatest Dad - Rate 5 - What a fantastic dark comedy!!!!Good job Bobcat!

8.) Julie & Julia - Rate 5 - I'm biased cause I can watch Amy Adams read a phonebook for an hour.

9.) Planet 51 - Rate 4 - An okay animated tale set if roles were reversed in the 50's-60's sci-fi!

10.) Bad Lieutnant - Rate 3 - Not good and not all bad, just I expected more from the actors.

11.) My Sister's Keeper - Rate 5 - A warm, moving family drama...just a very sad experience.

12.) Precious - Rate 5 - Wow! I'm glad I didn't have a mother like that........wow!

13.) A Cloudy Chance of Meatballs - Rate 5 - A refreshing animated tall that was equally funny and amazing.

I'll write a more detailed Avatar review since I'm seeing more and more negative reviews since yesterday.

The VGA's on Spike !

I was excitied with the teaser for the new Arkham, trailer for Tron:Evolution, trailer for The Force Unleashed 2, teaser for the next Medal of Honor, and the teaser for Halo Reach. I was a little disappointed that the rumored Gears of War 3 didn't make the show and as I've said before, Naughty Dog without a doubt deserved the game of the year award. (which I hope will translate in either another game or some DLC!!!)

Olivia Wilde was just awesome and who was more fitting than Samuel L. Jackson to introduce the new Star Wars:The Force Unleashed 2. Surprised that Avatar wasn't jammed down our throats like Prince of Persia. Overall it was a really good show and I'm looking forward to trying to finish the games I have and all of the new titles that are coming.

I'm Puzzled !?!

I'm a fan of film and over the course of two years I keep hearing the same three things and I wonder where all of this hate is coming from. You may say Nitty, what in the hell are you talking about already. Here it is: Michael Bay, Megan Fox, and Nicolas Cage. Never have I heard or seen so much negative opinion in my life, for instance Mr. Bay is known for his over the top direction not story depth. Bad Boys, The Rock, Armageddon, The Island, Pearl Harbor, and The Transformers are in his body of work.Yet he still has droves of moviegoers in lines and shattered box office records. Fox has only had four films, two are in the Transformer franchise and I hear that she can't act and all she is and ever will be is a face. It is early in her career yet no one gives her a chance, I think at this stage in her growth as an actress she and her agent will pick better material to gain your respect. Cage has had some good roles and some that you may ask yourself why, Hollywood still considers him a bankable actor in the $20 million dollar club. Many films are greenlit just with his name attached and yes every movie he acts in he gives the same performance. I'm waiting for your response so sound off!!
