Nice cinematic, as always. Reserving judgment on whether this is worth it, based on what is known so far. Co-op sounds nice, but we'll see if it's different from the Quick Play arcade modes where PvE is sometimes the focus.

I didn't play Splatoon 1. This looks like fun though.
Konami is a bizarre company.
This opinion doubles as an objective truth.
The Wonderful 101 seems to have some issues, but it looks like an original game which might outweigh whatever problems it has. Wind Waker HD...it looks really good, but I got sick of the treasure hunt toward the end game in the original. It's my wife's favorite Zelda though, so it's a possibility. Talked to some others about DK Tropical Freeze and it looks to be a solid platformer. I actually played that in Target one day for about 2 min or so. The thing that stuck out the most to me was the music.
Bayonetta--never played the original but always heard good things. Glad to see that there's another Monolith game coming out, Xenoblade despite the annoying "WHAT A BUNCH OF JOKERS" repetitive dialog it was like a multiplayer MMO but with one person controlling all accounts. Great music too. Wish that could be uprezzed somehow on Wii U.
Metroid Trilogy is still around? I loved the first one but got stuck in the part where the Space Pirates have to be killed with specific weapons while being immune to others.
I am really interested in how ZombiU has held up. The press seemed to hate it for the most part, while user reviews revealed a possible disconnect in that they seemed to find the game very enjoyable and scary.
Finally, my concern for the rules is now moot as after showing my wife the MK8 bundle she's decided to pick it up for my birthday.
I adhere to the 5 game rule for buying any console. There must be 5 games I'd be willing to pay full price for on a system before I'll commit to a purchase. For the Wii, it was:
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Endless Ocean: Blue World (I love underwater stuff)
- Monster Hunter Tri
- Xenoblade Chronicles
With Mario Kart 8 coming out, and this new bundle being just announced, I am seriously jonesing for a Wii U. That said, this is all I can come up with so far:
- Mario Kart 8
- Super Mario 3D
- Pikmin 3
If I could come up with 2 more must have Wii U titles I'd snag that bundle.
@juboner: I have seen this same statement since Nintendo 64. Nintendo isn't changing, and it's more of a perception problem rather than a real one, depending on what you demand from a console.
Each console Nintendo puts out has around 5 or 6 high quality, first-party titles. These are games that have high if not endless replayability (Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart), and their target audience (families with young kids) are not the kind of folk who expect Nintendo to have 3rd party support for a steady stream of titles to choose from. If 3rd parties decide to release content on a Nintendo console, great. Otherwise, Nintendo makes plenty of money doing their own thing and despite the Wii U's poor sales, it's a drop in the bucket compared to their cash reserves.
Because they thought they could get away with something they wanted.
They were being arrogant like how Sony was with the PS3.
Pretty much this. Sony wanted to sell Blu Ray players and showcase the Cell processor and used the PS3 help fight HD-DVD. Had little to do with games.
Dirt 2. Great balance between sim and pure arcade racing. Never played Gran Turismo 5, it could be the best racer on the system but I passed on it due to lukewarm reviews and reports that the AI is still on-rails.
I think the Score is alittle Low but I agree with the written review 100%. I was saying these certain points months ago but people were still stuck in the honey moon period, it was a overhyped game that didn't live up to its prequel.
McShea enlightened me on a lot of things that I had sensed but not realized. I kind of wish I hadn't read the review because of it. I do agree that the score is a little sensational and if nothing else, lends to the argument that we shouldn't use scores
@Elk: Thanks, worked great.
