I see a lot of people on gmaespot think that games should go multiplatform in order to make money and create less fanboy arguements but i have to disagree. The reason is that when games are exclusives they create a whole lot more buzz and would probably sell more.
When a game is exclusive to a system say like the ps3 then all the ps3 fanboys will be showing it off and writing how great it is on all the forums. While the xbox fanboys will also search for the game just to find out why it could be crappy or for a chance it might come to their system, this will cause more interest for the game. The ps3 fanboys in this case will keep telling people its so great and many people will buy it with really knowing much about it.
An example of a game losing popularity after going multiplatform is devil may cry 4. This game was in hundreds of forums, ps3 fanboys were showing it off. Then it went multiplatform. It stayed popular for a little while after but now is rarely mentioned. This is probabaly because ps3 fanboys feel betray and dont want to mention the game and xbox fanboys never played the original so dont care that much about it.
If a game is smart it should stay exclusive, or say its exclusive till near its realease. People are complaining why wouldnt haze go multiplatform. i say it is a smart move because the game isnt all that great and if it was multiplatform it will spark little interest. Since it stayed multiplatform it will at least get the sells of sony fanboys even if it turns out bad.
Only games that could go multiplatform without much conciquence are really good games like assasin's creed. While it did lose some popularity from being the best upcoming ps3 game to just a great new game. The game is good and unique enough to still be popular. So in the way I see it unless you make a great game companies really shouldnt go multiplatform.
