thx guys for ur help.... as much as i would like to get a 3850 or 9600 or a 8800gs, where i live they are much more expensive than the 2600xt or the 8600gts...... i just posted the link so everyone could see which graphics card i was considering.... the 2600xt costs $90 where i live and the 8600gts cost $99....... the cheapest 3850, 9600, or 8800 cost 140 here so it's a big difference for a student like me..... does gddr4 memory make a big difference over gddr3 memory? and can anybody find benchmarks for a 2600xt gddr4 256mb card? i've been searching all over the internet with no avail.....

i currently have an amd athlon system which is running a pitiful geforce 7300gt card...... i'm undecided over whether to get a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814241064 or a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143108...... i've read reviews on both cards pretty well but i haven't found a comparison of the radeon 2600xt with gddr4 memory and a oc'ed 8600gts..... which one would provide the best performance? i only have a budget of $120 usd so plz don't give me a spend more money upgrade to the 8800gts or hd 3850 type of responses..... i just want to have input regarding the performance, not what i could get for $50 more...... my other specs are athlon 64 x2 brisbane 4800+, ocz 2gb cl4 ddr2-800 ram, wd 7200rpm/16m 250gb hdd, and a unitech legend amd 770 sparta mobo with a 450w psu..... i also have a 17' samsung syncmaster which runs at 1280x1024........ thx for ur help

no ur hdd is fine but it may be the ram problem.... ur using pc-3200 ram which is ddr sdram and offers less bandwidth than a pc-6400 ddr2 sdram.... can ur mobo support ddr2 ram?? ur other configs look fine... a 7600gt should be able to run ut3 fine without problems. try setting the resolution a little lower to see if it helps but i think its becuz of the memory

6yrs..... thats a long time.... what brand are u using? it may be time to change your router... have u tried connecting ur comp directly to the cable modem to see if that speeds it up??? also cable internet depends on various factors such as number of users, whos hogging the bandwidth and so on.... try tweaking settings such as mtu or tcp receive window for minor minor speed boosts... also try using a different browser to see if the problem persists....

i don't have much money to spend around 300 bucks and i've decided to buy the best computer available at that price. what i got was a

cpu: athlon 64 x2 brisbane 4400+

ram: 2gb pc-6400 ddr2 ram

mobo: asus m2a-mx

graphics: sigmacom radeon hd 2600xt gddr3 256mb

hdd: wd 250gb 7200rpm 16m

odd: lg dvd-burner(no lightscribe)

psu: 450watt

case: m-atx

im getting this for $320(converted into us currency) with a logitech easy desktop delux set and a pair of creative speakers. am i getting ripped off or is this a fair deal? also i have my own os i can install so thats no prob. for me.

i have a old p4 computer down in my basement. the specs are p4 3.0e prescott, 1gb of pc-3200 ram, 80gb 7200rpm hdd, geforce 5500 agp, a cd-rw burner, and a 300w psu. i just recently found out that it supports pci-e 16x(1 slot) and my geforce 5500 just went dead on me. im looking for a cheap graphics card to upgrade to and im wondering if sticking a radeon 2600pro or a geforce 8500gt is better. or should i just go cheap and stick in a radeon 3450? also is my psu up to the task for the new graphics card? how much of a performance boost will i be getting from my geforce 5500?

if you don't have at least 2 gigs of ram, upgrade to it..... recommend ocz if ur on a tight budget or if you have some spare money get a geil...... also the 8400gs is horrible for gaming.... i used to have one and it was just crap..... like i said, if ur on a tight budget, go get urself a overclocked 8600gt for around a $100 or invest in a 9600gt, 3870hd, or a 8800gs. it will probably set u back a $150-$200 for those graphic cards. btw, i used to run a 4800+ w/ 1gb of twinmos ram and a 8400gs but after i upgraded to a 8600gt and a pair of ocz rams, i saw a noticeable improvement with my system's response time and gaming. i can smoothly run supreme commander, company of heroes and recent games on 1074*768 with the details turned up to high(get around 30-40 fps). hope this helped
