I was wondering, did any of you see the SF Weekly article called FarmVillains about the Zynga CEO Mark Pincus?
He supposedly told employees:
"I don't ******* want innovation," the ex-employee recalls Pincus saying.
"You're not smarter than your competitor. Just copy what they do and
do it until you get their numbers."
I know games are a business, and there's a certain amount of "thievery" among developers, but this is too much. This is the businessification and hollywoodization of the gaming industry that it doesn't need. Maybe there is a place for these games though. Perhaps they are a necessary evil. Thoughts?
