@kornfreekiam: just wanted to add that I also didn't read your post right the first time...sorry, on pain meds and a little hazy. For the most part though I think it still stands. A slow guy would neither survive fights with the likes of Zodd, nor react in time to save themselves from Rosine's supersonic attack. Or fight 100 people with weapons. And if he needed an actual pause between swings, he would not repeatedly block and parry objects moving too fast for a normal person to see. And again, he was doing so as early as the Wyald fight when other Band of the Hawk members are in awe at his speed and concerned about getting sucked into the whirlwind of Guts' and Wyald's weapons.
Those are just a couple I found right away, from the Black Swordsman arc and conviction arc respectively. Truth is I could have posted DOZENS of examples from the source material if I were more patient (like when he reacted to Rosine going at him fast enough to break the sound barrier). But the fact is, Guts is not slow. Guts does not swing his sword slowly, or he would be dead. In fact he is JUST as inhumanly fast as he is strong, even by the time he fights Wyald.
You're just plain wrong. Anybody who calls Guts slow has not read the manga and shouldn't argue with someone who has. It's both illustrated and stated in dialogue many times that he is incredibly fast even before he gets the Berserker armor. Now go read it bro.
But the only reason Guts moves "slow" in the animes is the low budget animation. Guts can actually move quicker than the eye can track in the manga, and even keep up with apostles that are fast enough to break the sound barrier. At one point in the new anime (and Manga) he runs past a group of Holy Iron Chain Knights and leaves them wondering what that "black blur" was.
Guts appearing slow in the animes is simply a flaw with those adaptations and their miniscule animation budgets, not an accurate character trait in any way.
Guts SHOULD move faster than almost anyone in this or any Musou title.
