Alright, I'm not going to talk about whether having violence in videogames is a bad thing or not (another blog maybe). My Rant is about Jack Thompson and all the other people that complain about videogames being bad for kids. GTA4 (and all other M games) are rated M if it has alot of violence. So kids should not be playing this without their parents permission?
So why would these people prefer to remove the game rather than actually accepting some responsibility for their own actions and putting some responsibility on the parents rather than just looking for someone to blame so that they can justify their own f*** ups. It makes no sense to me. Grow up and accept responsibility. If your kid is playing a violent game then you have no-one to blame but yourself. Spend some time with your kid, if you believe their level headed enough to play a game like GTA4 then let them play it, but don't cop out if your kid gets in a fight in school or whatever and then blame it on the game.
Its really getting ridiculous that nobody is willing to own up and say "yeah, I made a mistake". Noooo, they'd rather say I did everything I could, lets blame the gun rather than the person who shot it. Or blame the car rather than the person who got drunk and drove it.
Responsibility people. Rant over.
