BF2142:
BF2 with a scifi setting and  a bunch of other crap thown in. If you want  a team shooter, this is is. Arguably it is a bit of a rehash of BF2 but it honestly has some better features.

A cheap console cash in at heart. The PC version generally is said to run like crap (if it even runs in the first place). I am also not a fan of the wallhax (read: cover system) but that is my own personal opinion.

Overall. No question, get BF2142 if it has to be one of these 2.

 Thats not true im afraid.
The example you quoted (PC Gamer)  gave HL2 96% which is the highest score to date they have given any game.

The real reason that it got 66% was that it was a cheap ass cash-in by M$. Basically a poor attempt to convince people to switch to their god awful Live anywhere scheme.

As for the TC, what have you been smoking? This game is most likely completly unoptimised. Have a quick browse through some recent PC games to see how much they trounce halo 2.

In my opinion you should get supcom.

I tried C&C:3 and was not impressed by the total lack of strategy involved. If you are worried about your specs, i really wouldnt.

I run supcom on medium settings on this:

Athlon64 3200 (single core)
2GB Ram
7800GT

and it runs fine (bar really late game 2v2's where there is loads of units). With that dual core you will be dandy trust me.

Wow if this "pay to play" thing pans out its gunna be complete BS.

At first i thought that GfW was going to be the revival of PC gaming, now all i see that it is the bringer of doom.  M$ seems to think that all PC gamers are eagerly willing to get sucked into a completly tied down system (XBL) which only means that they can control the market completly.

Next we will be hearing that we have to pay extra to install mods, how about having to pay for the map editor? Whatever it is i am not buying it. I dont want an open platform like the PC to turn into another console.
