I haven't done a "Favorites" blog in a long time (basically since my 10 Underappreciated RPGs blog from...forever ago  ). And since Michelle (Mangaminx) did this blog, I figured I'd do one too, just updated.
10. Fooly Cooly
Hell, it may only be 6 episodes long, but Fooly Cooly was very memorable (mostly for making almost no sense whatsoever and still being funny at the same time :P ). FLCL is about a young boy name Naota or Ta-kun or the other names people call him. Anyway, one day he is going on and on about how average and normal his life is, when he is run over by a woman named Haruko on her Vespa motorcycle...thing. After that all hell breaks lose...robots start coming out of Naota's head and even more kooky characters show themselves. Not to mention it has an awesome soundtrack.
9. Dragonball Z
Now I know what you're probably thinking...DBZ is "teh sux", why does he like it? Well, mainly because if it weren't for DBZ, I wouldn't have gotten into anime. I first saw DBZ on Toonami on Cartoon Network all those years ago, it was the Saiyan Saga (my personal favorite as I have it on DVD) and after that I watched the whole series and wanted to watch more anime. Not to mention those epic stare downs and grunting/screaming contests they'd always have. :P
8. Inuyasha
A few years ago, this would've been higher on my list, but the ending sucked...bad. The first 3 seasons I fell in love with. Inuyasha, a half demon boy who ends up being awoken by his reincarnated lost love. The characters are some of the most memorable I've ever seen, Miroku the lecherous monk, Sango the beautiful demon slayer, Shippo...the utterly annoying/pointless character ( :P ) , and Naraku, one of the most evil villains I've ever seen. But, past Season 3...the series went downhill and led to an utterly pointless ending that felt like one giant kick to my manly parts that wouldn't go away for weeks.
7. Ranma 1/2
I've only just gotten this anime on DVD (well the first 2 seasons anyway), but I already love it. It's a comedy/kung fu action anime, where Ranma and his Father are under a curse, which they obtained in a training exercise in China. Whenver hit with cold water, Ranma turns into a girl and his dad turns into a giant Panda. The only way for them to be turned back into their original forms, are by being hit with hot water. As you can imagine, this leads to some hilarious senarios. Ranma is betrothed to the daughter of a martial arts school, so he ends up trying to lead a normal life...but they don't exactly like each other at first. Really it's just a light hearted funny anime, which is a nice change from the ones I typically watch.
6. Chrono Crusade
No, despite this anime having "Chrono" in the title and having a character named "Chrono" there is no relation to the video games. :P This anime is about a girl named Rosette Christopher, who is a part of the Magdalene Order who persecutes demons, in 1920's New York. :? Seemed odd to me at first too, and her partner being Chrono a demon also felt rather confusing at first. But, this was one anime that as soon as I started watching it...I couldn't stop. In a 24 hour period, I watched all 26 episodes, I was addicted. :P
5. Tenchi Muyo!
Tenchi was another anime I first saw on Toonami years ago. It was hilarious, yet serious and also had a main character whom almost any guy would be envious of. Basically Tenchi is your average high school student...who ends up living with 6 beautiful alien girls/demons/galaxy police officer/mad scientists. After he meets them his life does a 180 and he ends up fighting off numerous villains and unlocking the secrets of his familes past. My overall favorite of the 3 seasons I saw was the original one, Tench Muyo! Tenchi Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo were okay...but they kinda lacked the charm of the first.
4. Fullmetal Panic!/FMP Fumoffu
FMP was another one of the giant mecha animes that featured a young boy pilot named Souske Sagara (serious military upbringing which causes him to not exactly fit in with normal everybody life) and a high school beauty named Kaname Chidori. Kaname, of course, has some sort of special hidden power, of "The Whispered" which allows her to tap into "Black Technology". And from there the original anime takes off. Fumoffu is a side story to the original, which mainly focuses on Souske and Kaname's interactions at school. But it is one of the funniest side stories I've ever seen. The situations they get in are clever, witty, and fit in with each characters personalities. I kinda wish they'd make another Fumoffu series of FMP. :(
3. Fullmetal Alchemist
Okay, chances are if you've even been remotely connected to anime in the past few years, you know about FMA. It's about Ed and Alphonse Elric, who in their grief, decide to try and bring back their dead mother. Well...it fails, causing them to lose almost everything they hold dear. The story, when I first watched it, was confusing as hell at parts, but that is one of the things I loved about FMA. The deep and thought provoking story that makes you question how you live. Really, it's hard for me to put many anime above FMA, but there are at least 2.
2. Samurai X/Rurouni Kenshin
If you know me, you know I like Kenshin. :P I liked the anime, Rurouni Kenshin, a lot. But what really seals the deal for this series to me, was the OVAs. The OVAs, titled "Trust & Betrayal" and "Reflections" are some of the best animated movies/anything I've ever seen. Trust and Betrayal holds a specific place in my heart, due to getting to know Kenshin more and seeing what he went through before the main anime. If you've seen the anime, you know Kenshin has a vow to never kill another human being ever again. This perplexed most people, most likely, as it is never revealed as to why he made that vow. If you watch Trust and Betrayal...you'll see why he chose to do that. Kenshin, as a character, holds special meaning to me...as I feel he and I are a lot a like.
1. Neon Genesis: Evangelion
Evangelion....where to start? :P Well, this is THE most mind f**** crazy anime I've ever seen...if the series wasn't crazy enough, "The End of Evangelion" still has me going...WTF?! But that is part of why I love it! If a story has me confused or critically thinking about it, that means I really enjoy it. And boy did Eva do that for me. Not to mention having a weak and utterly cowardly main character, Shinji Ikari, which I feel is a lot like me. In the anime, at first it seems simple, destroy the Angels who are trying to get to Adam and cause 3rd Impace, which would wipe out the human race. But, around halfway through the series, twists and turns start to take place, causing not only Shinji, but the other main characters to start to question why they're fighting these beings called "Angels". And yes, there is a major Christian theme that goes on in this anime, Christianity is what this story feeds off of. Overall Eva just wowed me and willa always hold it's place as my No. 1 anime.
There they are! Question, flame, discuss, eat some meat so you can have your pudding! :P
Edit: Wow do I feel dumb. I forgot The Slayers!!! It would be in this list somewhere!!! I didn't forget about Lina!! :P
