Curious why she chose not to point out that AC Chronicles looks like just a 2d side-scrolling platformer rendered in 3D. And people wonder why videogame journalism is perceived as just another arm of the game's marketing department.

I'm finding it harder and harder to trust game reviews. This just seems like click-bait, because they know the game was reviewed well and people would flock to an article with a dissenting opinion. It's BS that a videogame reviews site has a positive review for all the people who like a game, then a negative review for all those who disagree, and then Gamespot in the meantime just soaks up all the page view numbers.

@gossamergirl_ @diggyphelps

gossamergirl, apparently the crusader on these comments, still isn't getting my point. My opinion is that GTA's portrayal and glorification of committing violence on innocence is MUCH worse than its portrayal of sexism. In my opinion, the way GTA glorifies violence and destruction on innocence is way worse for society than its portrayal of sexism, yet yourself and Carolyn seem to focus on just the sexism. Intentional violence against innocents in general will always be more offensive than sexism, I don't understand how you can ignore the videogame's violence against innocents yet claim the videogame is offensive just because of sexism. That is crazy to me.

Also, have you ever considered that since GTA deals with the criminal underworld, the criminal underworld is extremely likely to be sexist and racist, so GTA is just trying to accurately portray criminals as they are? It would be different if this was a game about Superman, and every night when he comes home after performing random acts of kindness all day, he gets to watch Lois Lane do a stripper routine. I can understand how people would have a problem with sexism in a game like that.

What I find weird about Carolyn's review is that if you're going to complain about GTA5 from a morality standpoint, why are you focusing on misogyny? That's the least of the moral issues in a game that encourages indiscriminate killing and committing crime in general. I also noticed that IGN similarly had a female reviewer on this game and it didn't seem like there were any complaints of misogyny. This is more of the reason why I've been getting away from Gamespot on reviews, some of the writers seem to be overly sensitive.

I thought this game had plenty a sense of "place", the entire game was lampooning southern California. I just moved to soCal a couple years ago from Florida, 2 wildly different parts of the US, and I thought GTA5 hit soCal right on the mark. Every little aspect reminds me of what it was like moving to Cali for the first time, and I thought it was hilarious. Maybe it's different for other people who are playing the game and don't know what the west coast vibe is like.

I don't understand the hate for Xbox One either, I mean like, did people ever hate on each other because they had a different brand VCR? I'm pretty interested in the whole voice-command functionality, Microsoft really does have something useful here, and I look forward to the day where I'll never have to look around for the television remote again and just talk to the TV or whatever device is in my entertainment center. In my opinion, Sony definitely messed up with that; they used to be the kings of the entertainment center, but now the Xbox One might actually be the device that controls everything else. Regardless, ever since I first got a job and could afford multiple consoles, I've bought Sony/Sega, then Sony/MS, Sony/MS again, and now will definitely buy Sony/MS again.

Now to make my intelligent comment: since when did Gamespot get such a cute host? There's been a dearth of good female gaming hosts since G4TV went defunct, so I'm glad to see more gender diversity in gaming news.

@Ghosthunter54 They also need to adopt tutorials for all the gameplay mechanics, like the various gadgets and spotting. Spotting BY ITSELF should be a tutorial, it's extremely useful and severely underutilized.

If you're talking about air-burst rounds, the OICW grenade launcher (real life proto-type weapon) was supposed to have air-bursting grenades that have a fuze or timer on them so they explode after a predetermined time as opposed to exploding on impact. This allows the round to penetrate a wall and explode inside the room, which would kill the occupants but cause less damage to the structure. I don't see how this is "magic" to you. If it actually does this in the game with causing less damage to the structure, I can see why they wanted to include this kind of weapon with the destructibility of Frostbite 3. Just play and adapt.

I always liked how Killzone does off-the-wall stuff like this with their multiplayer. No XP is pretty radical, and I'm glad it de-emphasizes kills somewhat and encourages other player behavior.
