You're thinking of the stereotype of gamers who were raised on PCs and prefer more western games vs gamers who were raised on consoles and prefer more Japanese games. Luckily, I was playing Doom, Full Throttle, Street Fighter 2 and Super Mario World when I was three, so I'm a combination of the two. got_systems

I did both too but that's not quite what I am talking about. Its more toward the crowd that is more concerned with graphics than gameplay. Perfect example while I love Gears I have to say its kinda of overhyped by people based mostly on its sparkle. It happens alot with hardware too.

[QUOTE="Panzer_Zwei"]Ghaleon as a role model? what the..Panzer_Zwei

Lunar for the Sega CD was pretty pimp back in the day :P

I know who he is, but he backstabbed everyone, that's why the "what the" was for such a rolemodel.

Well backstabbed is kinda harsh. He was a bit upset about the past being the self made man that he was its kinda understandable. He was just trying to make the world a better place in an agressive kinda way. Anyways it was just a brief moment of rage prior to and after the incident of the first game he was more or less a stand up guy. lol

Corp??

Looks like you are doing old-school hardcore vs new-school.

Also, what was bad about KH?ZinkOxide

Sorry haven't slept in a couple of days and I type that word alot well with an "s" generally.

No you see thats exactly what I am talking about. Its not old school versus new school its the difference between the guy who worries more about his framerate/benchmarks then the actually substance of the game he is playing on the PC side.

You know I've been noticing a trend lately of people throwing these two types of people in the same boat.

There is a far difference between someone who NEEDS a crystal clear image, sound that shakes his house, neat toys he can show his friends, tachnology with a cool name in his game console that he knows little to nothing about that gives him a clearer image thathe could probably equal just but adjusting the sharpness on his tv......

AND

Someone who had Ghaleon as a child hood rolemodel, wonders why no one ever followed up on Herzog Zwei (the father of the RTS), still feels empty inside over the abomination know as Kingdom Hearts, remembers pan handling on the streets to get more money to get the handcuffs down in SF2.

There are Hybrids mind you but few and far between.

SIDE NOTE FOR THE OTAKUS - Oh yeah and while anime definately has its place in the world incoherent melodrama doesn't belong at the forefront of every rpg.

You know I've thought about this too. The Wii has some great potiential but right now that's all it really has going for it. In a perfect world 3rd parties would be excited to capitalize on the systems strengths but realistically speaking most developer are content to give us enchanced remixes of the same stuff we have been playing for years. Nintendo while being a strong first party developer has a particularly bad habit of give you what they think you should have instead of what you actually want. They also take forever and a day to develope games. For example wouldn't a sequel to Wii sports be nice with deeper gameplay and an easily accessible online arena. I mean they have the foundation in that glorified tech demo we all accept as a game on its good merits. How hard will it be to give us something like that maybe addsa few more solid sports in there like say fencing or kendo. You think we will get that... Seriously look at the past. More than likely we will get innodated with mascot driven crud and kiddie games only to be followed up by some kind of off the wall gardening game or something to that effect. They are out of touch with gamers and don't seem to understand that while peaking the interest of the masses is important taking care of the gamer (inority as we may be}is vital to a system's survival because when all the buzz of a fad fades gamers are the ones that sell and hype your product because they have a passion for it. Another thing why aren't they talking up their systems ability to use Orb!? Sheesh Nintendo its one thing to sell a mobile baby sitter with some cute games for the parents but its another to compete for marketshare with two monsters like Microsoft and Sony. I hope Nintendo surprises me I really like my Wii but more than likely the system won't have the apps we want to play until its on its deathbed.

LOL the real battle of sales starts when late October rolls around threw December and early January.Unforgiven2870

Oh yeah I heard about that battle... Do you seriously think Sony will be able to escape the shadow of Halo 3 next holiday season. Don't you understand that Microsoft is going to toss so much money into advertising/Hype that the Master Chief may be voted the next president of the United States of America (given our current options a fictional character might be a step up.). I mean I wasn't impressed with the last game aside from some charm in the multiplayer but it wasn't revolutionary. Doesn't matter anymore because gaming is going mainstream so the cows will follow anything shiny. Henceforth the devout MGS fans.

[QUOTE="-The-G-Man-"]No joke.  That and having to pay to play games on XBL.  They should have made Silver so all you can do is play games and have just a couple of the basic features (like a friend list).  Gold should give you all the other stuff.-The-G-Man-

I'm sorry while the adapter is a rip-off XBL is well worth twice the price I pay for it. The whole set up is beautiful. Seriously the fact that they created such a standard nearly brings a tear to my eye. 50$ a year for seamless gaming bliss with your friends and fellow gamers. I am sorry XBL has no peer.

I'm not calling it a rip off.  Maybe I should have said that, considering the topic title. :P

I just think you should be able to play the games online for free instead of giving you all the features for free.  They should make you pay for the features and let you play the games.

I have a better idea. Since none of us will ever get to see the social security we pay for and people like me who are career military will never get it against our retirement even if it does managed to survive why don't we simply ask our government to put that money to use to pay for XBL so I can go into old age a happy man. Seriously though I see your point sometimes I think we pay that money to provide salaries for the people who are constantly trying to find new ways to leech money out of us for every little thing on XBL.
