great, now show me a list of ps3 games that have dedicated servers and are actually good People have different opinions on games. Some people love Socom some people don't like Socom. Some people Love Halo and some people don't like Halo and it's the same with every game. IMO I think that the PC Battlefield games are better then other online first person shooters.[QUOTE="lDeadlyReconI"]
List of Games I know have dedicated servers that are published by Sony:
Resistance Fall of Man
Resistance 2
Killzone 2
Socom Confrontation
Socom 4
Warhawk
MAG
DC Universe Online (Not publised by SCE, but still Sony.)
List of Games I know that are P2P published by Sony:
Uncharted 2
Uncharted 3
Gran Turismo 5
MotorStorm
MotorStorm 2
I don't know about Killzone 3, Resistance 3, MotorStorm 3 and some others. I was going to post a list, but could not find one.
Gears of War 3 is the only mainstream game I know that Microsoft publishes that has dedicated servers. The Halo games don't the first two Gears of War games don't and as far as I know the Forza games don't.
Say if Sony has 20 games that run on dedicated servers and 19 that are P2P. My defintaion of "most" is more then even if it's just more then by one. The point I'm trying to make is Sony hosts more dedicated servers on PS3 then Microsoft does on Xbox 360.mems_1224

PSN is open enough that' developers can do more like mods, custom features, integration of other services. You know something Microsoft would not allow on Xbox Live. When I say most PS3 games have dedicated servers I mean games that they publish You know Sony and Microsoft aren't paying for BF3's servers right? EA is. When You look at PS3 games publish by Sony most of them have dedicated servers not all of them, but a high percent of them have dedicated servers. Microsoft does not pay for Front lines Fuel of War servers THQ does. I said Gears of War "2" which does not have dedicated servers. If you read my post You would see that I said some X360 games publish by MS do have dedicated servers, but most don't. Yes I do know there's a Xbox 360 game that does have cross platform play, but I can't think of the name of it right now.waltefmoney
"I said Gears of War "2"
no does Gears of War 3? nope.lDeadlyReconI
I can't believe you would edit your post just so you don't have to admit you were wrong. :|
"Yes I do know there's a Xbox 360 game that does have cross platform play, but I can't think of the name of it right now."
Shadowrun, years before Sony had cross-platform play on PSN.
"PS3 games publish by Sony most of them have dedicated servers"
Okay, prove it.
I knew Gears 3 had dedicated servers before I posted it. I noticed that I put a 3 instead of a 2 when I hit the submit button, and quickly changed it after it was published. So I guess you quoted me when I was editing my post, but I never meant Gears of War 3. The Microsoft has done cross platform play before Sony, but Sony is pushing it more by allowing Valve to have cross platform play with Portal 2 and Counter Strike Global Offensive. Oh, and there's a game on the Dreamcast called Quake III that has cross platform play as well, but Sony is pushing it more then Sega or Microsoft ever did with Valve. SOE talks about cross platform play a lot, but apparently it never makes it in the final product. I don't have time to list them right now. I might do it later.[QUOTE="lDeadlyReconI"]

Again, not Sony.

Aaaand.. you're done.

PlayStation Network is an Open Platform, because of Sony. That's why the PS3 version of UT3 has Mod support not the Xbox 360, because Xbox Live is a close network.
Konami would of not of been able to use there own service if it was not for Sony having an open network.
Let's see Killzone 2 and 3 = Dedicated Servers, Warhawk = Dedicated Servers, Resistance 1 & 2 = Dedicated servers. Shall I'll go on?
Yes Xbox Live also has Dedicated servers, but does Halo Reach? no does Gears of War 2? nope.
Halo Reach's 16 players versus Killzone 2's 32 Players or how about Gears of Wars 2's 10 players vs. Resistance Fall of Man's 40 Players.
*Edit
@lawlessx I didn't know that I quit keeping tabs on the game after it came out. Before the game came out I remember SOE and some Game Journalists from Gamespot and Giant Bomb said it was cross platform play. I could be thinking of another game.
Nope, like I said above Publishers deal with the servers.
When I said that I meant games published by Sony. I guess I should of been more clear about that.

PSN is not an open platform. It's more open than Live, but it's not an open platform. If it was open, Konami wouldn't need Sony's permission.

Please do. I wanna see you prove that most of the PS3 games have dedicated servers, like you claimed.

What does that have anything to do with it? Frontlines: Fuel of War on Live supports 50 players. Does that mean it contributed to gaming? And yes, Gears of War 3 has dedicated servers. You need to do more research.

Are we forgetting that PS3 has DC Universe Online which supports hundreds and hundreds of players on a server at once, and it has cross platform play with PC players?
waltefmoney
You've never played DC Universe Online, have you?
No, I haven't only know what I heard from game journalist about the game. If I'm wrong still does not change the others I listed are fact.
- Microsoft = A big push towards online gaming
- Sony = Blu-Ray
- Nintendo = Motion controls
Those are the biggest "contributions" I saw out of each of the big 3 this generation. However none of those really stick out to me, so I'm going with EA due to their new orignal series... MADDEN!!

Are we forgetting that PS3 has DC Universe Online which supports hundreds and hundreds of players on a server at once, and it has cross platform play with PC players?
Are we forgetting that MAG has 256 players?
Are we forgetting that the PS3 version of Portal 2 has Steam intergreation, and cross platform play with PC and Mac players?
Are we forgetting that Untold Legends Dark Kingdom has Xfire intergreation?
Are we forgetting that the PS3 version of Unreal Tournment 3 has Mod support?
Are we forgetting that Metal Gear Online does not require PSN? So when PSN is down You can still play this game online.
Are we forgetting that most PS3 games run on Dedicated Servers and avarage out at a 32 player count?
Yes, Microsoft pushed console online gaming last gen, but this gen belongs to Sony, becuase PS3's online is the closes thing consoles got to PC gaming online.
