Heh, I love how everyone's been saying "Screw it I'm getting a Mac because I'm sick of computer problems". That's great. So what is the first thing you're going to do with your Mac? You're going to install Windows XP on it. Why? So you can play games, because, lets face it, you're on Gamespot in case you haven't noticed. Looking at games. So six months from now, your Mac which is running Windows XP is going to just as useless, because you bought into the idea that just because you're running Mac hardware you're not going to have a problem. Which is like buying a really expensive car and thinking you'll never have to change the oil. Sure, Mac hardware is a lot better than say, Dell hardware, but in the end it's just... hardware. The OS is really the problem; and really, the OS isn't even as much of a problem as the people who use the OS to begin with. People who send out virus files into the wild, people who write ad bots and spyware, people who do all these bad things to our computers - those are the people we should be yelling at. Not the hardware vendors, or even the software vendors. Even as I say this I believe I am wrong. Five years ago I held that belief but not so much today - this stuff has been out there for a *really* long time. If you're not smart enough to protect yourself by not doing the things that get you into trouble (opening spam and forwarding it around, downloading files from offbeat websites, installing a bunch of 'crapware' that boots with your computer and whatnot) then I don't really see why anyone should feel sorry for you. Sure, Vista, like all other MS products, will have problems. Mac has problems, Linux has problems. Heck, it's all man-made, it all has problems! But I think the day has come that, no matter what hardware or software vendor you are using, people can no longer blame Intel, or Dell, or Microsoft, or Red Hat, or Mac for the problems that they have with their computers. And when I say this I mean legitimate "I've bott-ed out my computer" type problems (Obviously, errors are still their problem) I don't think we can say "Bill, you're a bad person because you allowed a virus onto my computer". The fact is *you* allowed the virus onto *your* computer. Don't look to Steve Jobs to make it bullet proof, if you download and install something, no protection in the world is going to help you, because nothing can protect you from, well you.
