It makes zero business sense for Xbox to make COD exclusive, for now. The CMA know that could change in the future, Xbox are playing nice because Playstation is dominating but COD on Gamepass in the future is a deal too good for COD players and Playstation would definitely lose some customers. When you look at Microsoft's acquisitions in the last few years, it's obvious they want to buff up their Gamepass library to grow the numbers but how they're doing is a very aggressive and close to a Monopoly because they're buying big publishers. I feel so bad in how they have treated Halo and forgot what made Xbox. Xbox has alot of top devs but Xbox management hasn't been great since 360 days, now it's all about what's coming next and Phil Spencer hype.
Xbox should have never made a Series, their marketing was misleading but some of us could see it's shortcomings soon as the next gen games start releasing and in full swing. People would've been better off keeping their Xbox One X and saved for the Series X if they really wanted to experience next gen console gaming . I've got a feeling Series S would give Xbox devs alot of similar issues going forward, starting with Starfield
This is a case of a Dev prioritising eye candy over performance, we know 60fps at a high resolution is achievable on PS5/SX, I don't mind 30fps @ 1080p on last gen consoles but what really got me angry is that they tried to keep the 30fps thing a secret until it was leaked, they tried a Cyberpunk tactic and I hope people speak with their wallets or these publishers will carry on trying to mislead us, gaming is an expensive hobby and we hold the power.
Sony has every right to try stop this deal and Microsoft has every right to pretend like COD is not a major franchise lol Microsoft need Activision deal to help the stagnant Gamepass subs numbers , the Activision acquisition will definitely hurt Sony but it might also be an opportunity for 3rd party devs to make a COD rival when COD finally becomes full exclusive to Xbox. As a COD vet, COD multiplayer hasn't been that great for a while, the brand & Warzone is what's kept it alive, do I trust MS to make COD great again? No, not after what they did to Halo Infinite but I understand why they need more games for Xbox
Looks like Gamepass needs to hit 100+M to be profitable, they have over 300M games and a majority of them are 3rd party and they're paying each millions just to keep the games on Gamepass. Microsoft can eat the losses but every corporation has a cut-off point before they give up on a project. They will either raise the price of GP or less money will go into production for their exclusives since they are releasing their exclusives day and date on GP, it's a tough one for MS, the Activision acquisition is a big deal for them because they're hopw to gain some new sub members from it and they will but will it be enough? Only time will tell
I'd rather pay full price for a game and have cosmetics as an option if I want to pay extra. Battlepasses make sense in some games but they are still predatory and I hope it doesn't become a trend. I'm convinced Halo Infinite would've been even better if it wasn't F2P but it's bare-bones because they have to drip-feed us content through seasons/battlepasses
They will be scrutinised like a mfer lol no more good will for them after their big lie on Cyberpunk, if next Witcher is cross-gen, they better find the right balance so ladt gen versions don't look like dog ish. Other devs have managed to do cross gen titles and they still looked good, there's no reason why CDPR can't find that sweet spot especially with a game they know well
