Ok all here is my first review of BWii.
I bought the game last week and have had a week to play it and here are my impressions.
The initial missions are designed to teach you the different aspects of the game (tactics, unit vulnerabilities, just basic game play) and is relatively easy depending on you competency with the Wiimote and Nun chuck. You start off playing as the Solar Empire (Japan like in real life) and your foe is the Anglo Isles (Britten or Ausie like in real life), just a side note the counties in BWii seem to mirror real world type countries/nations I will go into this a little later. I have only completed the first set of missions (Solar Empire) and my ratings were "C" on all.
After each mission you will be graded on areas of command Power, Speed, and Technique (speed always kills me so that is why I have "Cs" for all of the missions so far. I tend to be cautious and methodical in my approach to playing these games, ok I really just suck multi tasking so this kills my score.
Over all I think more accomplished gamer will probably get through the first set of missions rather quickly and with minimal trouble "so go get em".
Ok here is the part that most of you are waiting for Wi Fi Mode or online play.
First let me apologize to all of those brave souls that have played with me in the co-op mode (for future avoidance my online name is "penguin") I am sure I hurt your chances of becoming "S" ranked on several occasions.
So to continue on line connection is fairly simple and seamless you simply select the "NINTENDO WFC" button in the start up and away you go (here is a hint, at start up you get the option to set up and chose where you want to save your data, the give you 3 choices, whatever name you chose for the save is the name that appears during online play so naming it "Fairy Princes" may get you shunned during co-op mode and blasted during skirmish.
The nice thing about the online play is that it gives you the option to play with or against anyone one on line. This means that you do not need a friend code to start playing. The online game also lets you pick the play any mission in the missions again this is kind of like open play. Being a veteran of many games systems my list of friends to play online against tends to be very limited (although a number of sites have created message boards that allow members to exchange friend codes) so this mode allows me to play online whether I have friends online or not.
I have only played 2 online modes so far "MP SKIRMISH" and "MP CO-OP".
In the skirmish it is 1 on 1 timed battle where you try to inflict as much damage to your opponent as possible and don't worry about you troops being destroyed you will be resupplied for the maximum destruction of your opponent. I have played this 3 or 4 times all ending in my complete inhalation.
In the co-op mode you are teamed up with another player to complete a mission, this mission contains several objective during the mission so working together is imperative. Again I have played this in the "any player any mission" mode so you get the luck of the draw as to the experience level of the player you are paired with.
My biggest complaint with this game is the lack to communicate with your co-op partner it would help if there was some sort of voice communications to allow you to strategize with each other but that just may be me and my lack of gamming skills.
Over all I will give this game an 8 out of 10 (mainly for the online gaming).
Pros: Fast Paced, Decent Graphics, On Line Game Play and the Ability to Play Without Friend Codes.
Cons: Only one is no real interactive communications.
The play is good the animation is fun and over all as the BWii community increases I believe the online play will grow.
