The game that really changed my perspective on PC games was Half-Life.
Man, first time I played it I was like... dizzy and everythng but it paved the way for total 3D world FPS immersion and story telling. No cutscenes, realtime, and eveything seemed interactive. It made "WSAD" the basic form of control for FPS games, "mouse-look" a household term, and the magical function of the "E" button a bliss to gamers. And then LAN Multiplayer came in with this great classic. Ahh...
