Miami Vice-Another Movie Remake of a TV Show

There was a time when movie actors thought little of those who acted on television. Apparently movie producers and writers don't feel the same way.  "Miami Vice" is the latest entry as a tv show movie remake.  Very few movie remakes achieve the success of their television counterparts (i.e. The Wild, Wild West,  The Beverly Hillbillies, Starsky and Hutch, Charlie's Angels-Full Throttle).  The remakes come across more like parodies than tributes to the shows that they emulate.  Hopefully, "Vice" will not make this mistake.

Eureka!

It's great to see a new unconventional sci-fi drama.  Although I haven't watched a full episode yet, it's promos remind me of Spielberg's "Amazing Stories" in the 80's and Serling's "Twilight Zone" in the 60's.

Cast Reunions I'd Like to See

The recent 2006 TV Land Awards featured cast reunions for Batman(for some reason, Julie Newmar (Catwoman) was not acknowledged by either Adam or Burt, considering that she was the only "Guest Villain" to attend), Good Times and Dallas. There are some other cast reunions that would be fun to see, but highly unlikely to happen: Robert Vaughn and David McCallum from "The Man from UNCLE", Bill Cosby and Robert Culp from "I Spy", Stefanie Powers and Robert Wagner from "Hart to Hart", surviving cast members from the first season of "Saturday Night Live", the original cast of "Charlie's Angels", the surviving cast members from "The Time Tunnel" and the surviving cast members of "The A-Team". Most of these stars are good sports and would have fun being on the show.

CBS' Monday Night Comedy Revolving Door

The 9:30PM time slot on Monday nights seems to have a revolving door. Earlier this season, Out of Practice, the comedy featuring Henry Winkler and Stockard Channing held this slot. Later, without explanation, that series was replaced with Courting Alex, the new Jenna Elfman vehicle. Most recently, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Julia Louis-Dreyfus' latest sitcom attempt, was scheduled in this time period. It appears that this network is limiting its committments to sitcoms until one becomes a ratings hit. Fans are not given an opportunity to decide. The demise of many good shows has been the result of time slot roulette.
