I felt the same way. I ended up trading it in, I totally regret it.
It's a good game, but to find that I'm having to force myself to play it...
I think it's the fact that trying to figure an area out while bumping into random battles that are almost worthless because of the amount of EXP you're now getting, makes things abit tedious.
I also find that the character models detract from the seriousness of the story, it looks way too fake, it almost becomes comical.
I don't really like the area designs much either. :?
Yeah I know, I'm sounding way too b****, but at least it's not forced.

Only the Wii has gone purely mainstream. The 360 is trying to capture that market now with their new 'family' ads but it won't work.
I think it's different though. I think the games industry is becoming more like the art industry. There's alot less focus on the magic and soul of things, but alot more focus on 'creativity', 'originality' and technique, rather than focusing on atmosphere, emotion and subtle but definite symbolism.
