Trading-in and Lending in a Download only future.

Ok so this is my first ever blog and i'm not quite sure really how to do this but here it goes.

I've wanted to put in my two cents about this inevitable situation for some time now and ive decided to emphasize on the trading and renting of these games. I am NOT a technical Wizz nor do i imply that i am one so please take this with a grain of salt.

Firstly, everybody that I talk to about Download only games always ask me " how would you go about trading in or lending a game to a friend?" well i think ive come up with a solution. I think that we would have to implement a system of licenses. Now when you buy a game under this system you are granted a sort of license to download and install the game and as long as that license is present on your computer, or in a account attached to a system like steam, then your have access to play the game. If you want to lend the game to a friend, you would send him the license through the account to his account, he would then be able to download the game and install it on your computer. Meanwhile, you would NOT be able to play the game. (As if you gave him the physical disks). This ensures that there arent more people playing the game then licenses sold thus ensuring that the developers don't lose money. After your friend is done playing the game he would then send the license through his account to your account, the files on your computer (or client system) would then allow you to access the game and play it!

Secondly, When you want to trade-in a game or sell it to someone else it would be very similar to lending it. You would put your lincense into your account then be send it or trade it with others. I would a virtual Marketplace.

Now i know this is a very early rough draft of this system but i would like some input as to if this is even possible and how anti-piracy would fit into this system. As i have said before i am not a technical wizz or anything of the sort so any input would be appreciated, even criticism is appreciated.
