Halo 3.... It is that good skeptics. It's a fantastic game. Almost all reviewers agree. I have to agree that it's not the best game ever in any specific category, but it's the mix of everything it has that makes it great. Saying that Mass Effect can beatHalo 3 in the story category is like saying that you've had better juice than the juice that's in your three course meal.
You've got to consider that Halo 3 has a lot of content creation tools in addition to the single player and multiplayer portions that shipped with the game. Halo 3 will still be fresh in two years, will Mass Effect? It's strange that you say you could only play through Halo's story two or three times. Isn't that two or three times as many as you should be playing through it? The replayability expectations of a game with as expansive a multiplayer component as Halo 3 are just ludicrous. Continuing on that point, I've played through Halo 3's campaign going on four times now, and I still find it entertaining.
Halo will never die. No matter how many threads are created that speak to its flaws, it's top-notch development will make it a modern classic. If you have a problem with Halo 3, that's great, but at least recognize that it didn't many things right.

I'm not some Halo hater, I play Halo everyday but Mass effect will have way more single-player replayability than Halo...and ya Mass Effect will still be fresh in 2 years.
