Shameful that they took down the video review and fired an editor due to advertisng preasure. Even the appearence of bias calls into question everything on the site. Without comment from GS at this point I can't help but conclude the company has zero credibilty - something I have suspected for a while - further confirmed by Halo 3 outscoring CoD4 and Mass Effect -

However in this day and age - a media outlet can not control the story like they are trying to do by taking down reviews and the like - to many other place where the story comes out and people can speak. Gamespot clearly needs better crisi managers and people looking out for the company's reputation

[QUOTE="-Zaku-"][QUOTE="WarTime71"]U GUYS WHO DONT LIKE ACHIEVEMENTS ARE DENSE THEY MAKE GAMES LAST LONGER THEY ADD COMPETITION THEY ARE FUN 2 GET JUST TO HAVE THEM IF U DONT LIKE ACHIEVEMENT POINTS ITS PROBABLY BECAUSE U SUCK SO BAD U CANT GET 100 KILLS WIT UR PISTOL IN GEARS NOOBS STOP **** AND PLAYRebornInFlames
I'll play a game at my own leisure, not for Achievements. If I don't feel the need to play a game anymore, I'm not gonna be held to it by Achievements. Games have been fine without Achievements for years. They only make games last longer if you want them too.

What I want to see is a return to traditional means of extending game lengths.....remember the good old days when you got a bonus level for beating it on a certain difficulty? 007 for 64 had the best bonus level scheme.....imagine if when you beat gears on insane instead of a little beeep and a gamerpicture you got to go on to act 6, and fight through to a boss like a brumak....that would be worth more than 100000 gamerpts to me

Those days are gone - if they are going to offer extra levels, weapons etc - it'll be over marketplaces and the Sony store (depending on your console of choice)

Achievements make make games last longer, I wouldnt be trying to beat gears of war on insane right now if it werent for achievemtnsajax_on_fire
True for me as well. I do play the games the way I want to. Then I read the Achievements and see if anything sounds fun or go for them. Its bonus play to me. CoD2 on Vet, Gears on Insane, Trying to find the last 2 stupid CoGs I didn't come across playing the game the first time - all that adds play that I probably wouldn't of fooled with. Even different takes like pacifist in Geo Wars - all good stuff.

It's 250 points total, so no game can have more than 1250 achievement points.technofranki
For now anyway - I think if a game can support multiple expansions - you might see that turned to 250 per expansion.

I suspect most Halo fans probably already have a 360.

[QUOTE="anandram"]Dont worry about the 'noob' question...if you dont know, you dont know. Anyway - You need to buy the xboxlive starter kit. Pop the cd into your xbox and your away. In the uk its around £40 for a years subscription. Note that you'll need a credit/debit card to pay for it over the xbox. Alternatively you could buy a 2 day trial? Or aquire one froma friend...but honestly - do the first option as you are then a GOLD member, entitiling you to more options/avenues. Just go to a shop and ask for an xbox live starter kit. Obviously make sure you have broadband and if maybe an ethernet cable. The cable is used to plug in from one end of your router and the other end goes in your xbox. If your router is too far away from your xbox to plug in, then your going to need a wireless adapter that plugs into your xbox. Just get the starter kit for now matey, then post later if you have any other questions. Hope that helps.

You don't need the starter kit for the 360.

Live doesn't need installed - its part of the OS. Silver is free, Gold (where you can play against people) is not - you have to subscribe.

Is this the reason my MTU is low?Basez2
Because you aren't connected to live - therefore you are not transferring data - thus you fail the test for maximum transfer units. Get over it - why are all you people testing your connection - you know live is down - go get some fresh air. Besides - you should be in school or at work - not playing xbox.

Well, they can't get everything right this round it seems. With the exception of some reliability issues, and the fact that they probably are going to lose the format war between HD-DVD and Bluray, Microsoft has done all the right things in this generation up until now. Why on earth would they schedule downtime for Xbox Live on the day that the Shivering Isles expansion comes out for Oblivion?!nocoolnamejim
On your 1st item - MS just liscenses and builds the add on - I don't think they really care beyond a rooting interest who wins the format war (as in rooting for sony to lose)

As for the second item - damn good question!!  That seems like poor planning.
