Top 25!

I finally achieved being the top 25 overall GHWT drummer worldwide for the Wii. This is based on carreer which totals all your scores up. I believe I just hit around 29 million points. Most of my scores for individuals are easily top 100 if not top 50. My best rank is Rambling Man by the Allman Brothers: Rank 4.

The only song I cannot beat on expert drums is Hot for Teacher by Van Halen. I'm going on slow in the training mode and picking it up slowly lol.

I guess I could lose my placement if I don't keep on playing actively but I think it's safe to say I'll be in top 100 for the whole lifespan of world tour :D

Now, only if I could get GH: Metallica with another bass/kick pedal and play Expert+...

EDIT: (1 day after blog post) - I passed hot for teacher and got a 4 star this morning. It's not even that hard, I got it in my first try. It's just the 40 seconds of the introduction that is pretty difficult. Went to rank 21.

Wii Buzzing Noise Fixed!

I've had that extremely loud annoying buzzing sound for ages with my launch Wii console and I can say that as of a few weeks ago it has been resolved! (January 6?)

Opening the unit was hard at first, without the the right tools it's almost impossible to open it. I was using a flathead screwdriver at first until I reached a little thing called the 'tri-wing' screw, which I've heard about. I've tried with the flathead and was unsucessful (others say it works, figures) Keep in mind these screws and extremely miniscule in size. It was time to get an actual triwing and phillips screwdriver to open the console. I've bought the set for around $8 with free shipping.

Now, opening the thing was a breeze. I can now open and assemble it without looking at a guide under 5 minutes lol. Only issue was that some screws were TOO TIGHT and required excessive force to unscrew them.

The greatest obstacle lied ahead of the deassembling of the unit. I've used youtube as my source as have found fixes from lifting the metal plate (which doesn't make sense from a technical viewpoint) to the central metal bering plate. After about 2 hours I was still out of luck in repairing the sound even after following vague instructions. My sister loosened the screws which connected the bottom of the metal bering plate. If you loosen it too much, it won't work. It just has to be the right amount of tightness. I know what I'm talking about is hard to understand and without pictures it's even harder but I have no idea what these parts inside the unit are called lol.

Sound hasn't really increased at all, except the first day which it increased slightly but that's about it. This fix is an inhouse developed fix! Not sure if it's on the internets but even if it is I bet it'll be too hard to find.

Bargain Deals..

Over the weekend I picked up 3 games for under $30 after taxes. I know what you're thinking, 'they are bad games'. Not quite. I'm having a blast with all three titles. The games I picked up were Red Steel, Rayman Raving Rabbids and Link's Crossbow Training.

Red Steel, the launch game that mostly everyone said sucked, is actually pretty good. I turning and aiming is just fine, even compared to those of heroes 2. Looks fairly decent and plays great. Haven't seen any bugs yet and I'm a few hours in. Sword fights are great, they work pretty much all the time. I'm paticularly interested in Red Steel 2 now, a bit better controls and it's perfect.

RRR, another launch game is also great. The mini-games are fun but sometimes the storymode is just downright cheap. Also, it's getting pretty repetitive. It's very linear and no, the games don't just pop up one after another. The downside? Looks bland, some mini-games lack textures.

Lastly, Link's Crossbow Training with the zapper. I loved this although it's extremely short . I like the zapper, it feels great and makes games funner. Not easier however. The game is much easier without the zapper but you lack the enjoyment which is probably the most important part of a game. Who would have expected shooting targets and enemies would be so much fun with a zapper? Especially from twilight princess realm.

Oh, all these games require a nunchuk for multiplayer. Now I must buy one regardless. Kind of crazy because I'm going into the second year of owning a wii without even having 2 of them O.o

Message: Bargain deal games are great :)

E3 '08 Press Conferences

Well, that's a it for all the 3 press conferences of microsoft, nintendo and sony. In a nutshell, all the press conferences were disappointing and they all could have done better and improved.

Let's start with microsoft, it was decent, that's all. They haven't really changed it for me to pick up a 360, not one single bit. I'm still at the same stance as I was a year ago about the 360. They show the already known games at the beginning: fallout 3, resident evil 5, fable 2 and gears of war 2. 2 out of those 4 games are multi-platform, i guess it works because those games weren't at sony's conference. They all look great and showcase the exclusives that are coming later in the year. Those games interest me. Now they talk about XBL avatars and channels, basically the new xbl update. The avatars basic concept is 'copied' of the mii concept as well as some other features such as photo channel and you get the point. New xbox live arcade games, great. Portal, galaga, geo wars 2. Can't say much about it. Netflix, banjo kazooie, viva pinata, lips. Not too big, can't really say, not interested at all. Sqaure enix announce their games..some exclusive to the 360, not much of a big rpg fan and again i can't say much. Then the conference was about to end and all the viewer basically thought was "that's it?!" The SE president comes back and a trailer is qued..what do you know, Final Fantasy 13. Used to be a huge ps3 exclusive but not anymore. That's a huge blow to sony. That was the biggest spotlight of the entire conference. I'm not going to rate the conference but I'm going to say that it's "decent, not great but not amazing either"

Next up is Nintendo, a lot of people expected A LOT from their conference. I just think that nintendo fanboys expected too much and had extrmelely high expectation. If you were watching with those expectations, you were bound to be left disappointed. It was decent as well a bit underpar but I'm not left too disappointed like others. started off with shaun white's snowboarding, never tried the balance board so once again i can't say much. But it looked average, looks like ssx blur which i loved. Then they announced animal crossing: city folk. This was a given. If you've been reading news, you knew that animal crossing would be there and it was. Anything new? The wiispeak which is this weird gadget which goes on over the sensor bar which is supposedly voice chat. Yet the complainers still complain that they don't have a microphone. Looks good, i'll probably get it. They switch their focus to the ds now, new pokemon, spore creature creator, gta chinatown and another ds guitar hero. Can't same i'm too interested but obviously there are ds games unannounced that are in the air. fire emblem remake, chrono trigger, anyone? They should have showcased those. Wii music, i was excited when I saw that drummer (robbie drums, lol) using the balance board playing the drums, that is just plain downright awesome. 50 instruments, band play I think that's neat lol. They announce wii motionplus which was announced the day before. Better motion control, 1:1! They announce wii sports resort, which is basically wii sports 2 but in the summer time. Many games can benefit from this. The sword fighting brings possibilities to a good light saber game or even zelda. That was it. Obviously nintendo has something else to show that they have up their sleeve. I mean they don't have much. But then again, we know there is warioland which is bound for an 08 release. Again, their conference was decent. i was a bit disappointed.

Lastly, sony. Their job is to catch up to nintendo and microsoft and they have to make this conference good. However, i'm left a bit disappointed but at the same time satisfied. starts up with resistance 2, looks sharp, the battle with the beast looks great. The next part was the neatest thing in all of the conference. Littlebigplanet was used in place of a powerpoint. Just downright awesome. Then onto ps2.., just kill it off sony. The announce yet ANOTHER bundle for the ps2....Next onto PSN, new rachet and clank for psn, looks average. Home looks cool, however the psn video store was just boring. Not interested at all, only thing that somewhat gets my interest is 'competitive pricing'. rentals and full fledged purchases looked cheap. i mean $14.99 for cloverfield in HD, stores would probably sell for $25-30. Then again, it would take forever to download especially in HD. I'm going to stress FOREVER. Psp stuff, don't really care. PSP does not interest me at all, resistance retribution doesn't look too good to be honest. New pricing for ps3, 80 gig for $400. oh, so 40 gigs more, not bad...with features of the 40gb (so no bc and media readers?) More attractive than the 40gb of course lol. god of war III..hooray! only in CG -L-. Another game called infamous...using force powers from star wars and just killing people, not too interested, looks bland. Lastly, MAG (massive action game) looks meh. Afterall, they should showed a bunch of CG again. 256 players..is that even possible? It'll be great if that actually manage to pull that off. In conclusion, best of the 3 but not by much. They were all pretty bad but this one is the best out of the bunch. Oh, this presser was the most polished and smooth. If you know what I mean..lol.

Time to watch the live show!

Fast Update

Alright. So, let's see if I can recall what happended for this whole guitar hero III disk fiasco. After the day my sister called activision customer support I got my red gold eagle faceplate, looks awesome I might add. The funny part was that they give you a slip saying you have recieved your replacement disk. Figures, looks like I got the faceplate first. The wierd part was that it was shipped from california on the 16th of april and it beat my replacement disk which was sent on the 3rd. On the 29th I looked in the mailbox and finally saw it. After 32 days I finally played GHIII again, the surround sound DPLII was definitely fixed this time around. The sound was comming out of all the speakers instead of just the center from the mono version.

What else? Mario kart is still on it's way, thanks dell. Doesn't matter though, I'm playing the world ends with you and okami on the wii which are both great titles. I'm about 3/4 done TWEWY and just 7 hours into okami and of course I'm playing GHIII every now and then.
