Dude, where's my last-gen games?

I always turned away "classic compilation" games. You know, those games that take a bunch of old games and reformat them for newer consoles. Until now. It had just dawned on me that I have not yet seen any compilations of games from 2 generations ago. No PS1, Saturn, N64, PC-FX, Atmark, or Jaguar games. While game companies have been letting them be available for download, not in compilations. And, really, how hard would it be to put a few games that are, at maximum, 700 MB into a 50, 30, or 12 GB disk? I'm starting to get worried that we may not see compilations of some very good classic games! Imagine the future, being able to play all current [as of today] Zelda or Mario games on a handheld system! Now, it might not happen. Maybe gaming has evolved beyond that, past the need for compilations or remakes. Well, now, I certainly hope not.

Year of the Plumber

I've always been a Nintendo fanboy, but now I really have a reason to be. There's a lot of great new Wii and DS games coming out. For the Wii: Animal Crossing: City Folk, Punch Out!! Wii, Mega Man 9, Wii Music, Final Fantasy XIII, Major Minor's Majestic March, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Motion Plus, and Shantae. For the DS, Grand Theft Auto: China Town Stories, Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades, Chrono Trigger DS, Luminous Arc 2 [With Soundtrack], Final Fantasy IV, Lock's Quest, Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, Disgaea DS, and A Witche's Tale.

I personally can't wait to see the faces of those pathetic sony fans when they see the Wii nd DS continuing to succeed.

This... Is... BIG.

I recently caught word of Dragon Warrior IX. I know that Enix joined Squaresoft, so I groaned at the thought of a lackluster PS3 exclusive. Then I started looking for more info and images, as I normally do when I hear of a new game I'm interested in. Then I saw something that blew my mind. I saw that it was a DS exclusive! I noticed that Enix has gotten pretty excited about DS development as of late; releasing nearly all of their projects on it: Dragon Warrior Monsters Joker, Dragon Warrio IV,V,and VI, etc. So, I really should have seen this coming, but I find it incredible that they're going the extra moile to push the DS to its limits. You're probably thinking right now, "Well, that's pretty cool, but not exactly mind-blowing. Give me some incredible news." You spoke too soon. Not only is it going to be a DS exclusive, but it's going to be THE VERY FIRST MULTI-CARTRIDGE GAME EVER!!! The closest thing would be a multi-disk game, but this isn't just mind-blowing, it's completely revolutionary! It was considered impossible before, but now I guess it isn't. If you're not convinced, here's proof:

You may wonder why I consider a DS release better thn a PS3 release. I mean, the PS3 is more powerful, right? Well, that's exactly my point. If it were to be released on the PS3, there would be no challenge to make a great-looking game, and they would be under constant pressure to make it look even better. Releasing a terrific-looking game on the DS, however, would be a work of art! They lso wouldn't be pressured by all the raving graphic-fanatics out there. In essence, it would be both unrestrictive and great to see the outcome of. I've always preferred Dragon Warrior to Final Fantasy, so this is a really big deal to me. The re-releases of 4, 5, and 6 are going to be awesome, too. A note about Dragon Warrior: In Japan, as Ron Burgandy would say, "It's kind of a big deal." So much that they passed a law that forbid Enix from releasing games on weekdays, because so many people would skip work and school just to get it. I wonder what would happen for IX if this law wasn't in place?:P Anyway, it's going to rock, end of story.

One more thing, I am well aware that the series is now called "Dragon Quest" worldwide, but I refuse to call it by anything other than Dragon Warrior.

Top 5 Most Time-Consuming Games

Here are the games that ate away hours of my life faster than quarters at an arcade. And you know what? It was worth it. :)

5. Kingdom Hearts

4. Harvest Moon DS

3. Dragon Warrior

2. Super Mario 64 DS

1. Dragon Warrior Monsters 2: Tara's Quest

Well, I hope you enjoyed the list.

Games I Want Re-Released

Every now and then, I play a game and I think, "Man, this would be SO much better on [Insert console name here]!" Here's a list of them off the top of my head:

Bangai-O (N64/Dreamcast): Wonderswan Color, or Xbox 360. Why? The game was originally played with a control pad and stick at the same time, and accessing both at the same time while pressing other buttons was very awkward on the N64 and Dreamcast controllers. [The only time when the Dreamcast controller was awkward :p ]

Yoshi Safari(SNES): Nintendo Wii. Why? This one is obvious. It was a super scope game back on the SNES, and only recently with the release of the Wii Zapper would it be a very good time for Nintendo to bring back its little-known gem of a game.

[ANY MMORPG] (PC/Mac/Unix): ANY handheld console. Admit it, it sounds like an awesome idea. Porting any major MMORPG to a handheld console would be a very fun way to play. It's been done before on portable systems, but it's rarely a success, and it's usually just ported to cell phones. If, for example, Trickster Online were ported to the DS or PSP, I wouldget my hands on it the first chance I got! I also just heard that they are porting Ragnarok Online to the DS, so I'm really excited about that. Now, if only I couldmod my DS with an aircard... :D

Hey You, Pikachu! (N64): Nintendo DS. Okay, let's get over the fact that it's such a jeuvinile game, and think logically. The cornerstone of this game was voice recgnition and exploration. Right away, it seems like a perfect fit for the DS. Just about everything would be a hundred times better with the touch screen and microphone. If you've played this game, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Bomberman: Hero To All

If you're a gamer and you don't know who bomberman is... no, that's impossible. EVERY gamer knows about bomberman. That little guy in the white and blue suit that sets bombs everywhere to clear the field of enemies. Good times. You may be thinking, hey, why do already assume everyone knows about this guy? Well, the answer is simple. He's been on nearly every console known to man. Here's a list if you're not convinced: NES, MSX, NEC Computer, PC, Mac, ZX Spectrum, TubroGrafx-16, Amiga Computer, DOS, Genesis, Sharp MZ-700, SNES, Saturn, Neo-Geo, Arcade, Nintendo 64, Playstation 1, Dreamcast, Gamecube, Xbox, PS2, Xbox 360, Gameboy, Wii, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Virtual Boy, Cell Phone, N-Gage, DS, PSP, iPod, Famicom Disk System, Atari ST, and Unix. Basically, if you have a game system, a computer, or even a cell phone, then there's no excuse that you can't play bomberman! If for some reason you haven't played games in this series, then I reccomend getting the Sega Saturn or xbox live arcade version. It can support the most players, and has online play.

Life Is A Game; Make Sure You Have The Cheat Codes.

Well, this is my first gamespot blog entry; I hope somebody reads it.

I've noticed something over the past few weeks; usually, it's possible to mainpulate any situation to your favor, without many or any negative results. There are many ways to do this: Arguing, Passive complaining, "reasoning"), and trickery. Arguing is a very good choice. If you don't think you can fairly come to a conclusion with someone by doing this, you can always just try to wear them down [keep insisting on your argument point and giving examples, even if they don't care, until they can't stand listening to you anymore, and just give in]. Passive complaining is a delicate but useful tactic. You have to be careful that you don't complain so much as to enrage the listener, but just enough to keep your opinion on their minds until they percieve it as important. This can change your listener's opinion entirely, replacing it with yours, if you do it right. Reasoning. By this, I mean blackmailing. Enough said. :) Trickery is probably the most fun. You won't be able to pull this off at the moment of the conflict, but it's worth it, trust me. Basically, all you have to do is, after you leave the vicinity of your listener, you can do certain things that set into motion events which will either wear the person dow considerably [as mentioned in arguing], or just make them completely agree with you. This is the most difficult, because you have to plan it all out beforehand, but it is by far the most powerful and amusing.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my blog post; I'll be sure to post again when I feel like it. :)
