Intelligence Only Please!

I wish people would stop wasting their time writing game reviews when they're not even smart enough to realize that they don't make any sense. I look at user reviews for honest and intelligent feedback because I hate wasting my hard earned money on bullsh*t games! I'm so sick of reading reviews that are nothing more than a 900 line run-on-sentence or have so many spelling errors that you can't even understand what they're trying to say. What irritates just as much, is reading a review that talks about how "absolutely perfect" a game is, but they only rate it a 9.0! Or worse, one that talks about how "almost perfect" a game is because of its few flaws, but yet they rate it a 10 anyway! I understand that people want to get their opinions out when they think a game is great, but that's what forums are for. The idea of a REVIEW is to give people honest and unbiased feedback and recommendations.

6.5 is the Curse for 360 on Gamespot

It seems almost every game on XBOX 360 that receives a good amount of hype before its release and doesn't live up to it gets the same unlucky review score by Gamespot. I can't believe how many 6.5s I see when I browse the entire list of 360 games available. To me this number doesn't mean the game is fair and worth playing. When I see this score on a game's review I immediately turn away without considering playing it.

The reason for this is all the overestimating reviews given to games just because they're destined to be great even though they aren't. For instance, since Halo 3 was rated 9.5 when it should have been 8.5, now I feel that any game that gets 6.5 is really a 5.5 caliber game with a sympathetic tilt.

I think 6.5 is the Curse for 360 on Gamespot because it seems to be the rockbottom end of a black and white rating system. "This game's either good or it's bad, it's good or it's 6.5." If a game (like Alone In The Dark, Jericho, Army Of Two, Timeshift) receives a lot of hype and disappoints, it always gets 6.5. Even if it's actually worth playing (like Timeshift), it's still rated at the bottom of the trash dump of 360 titles just because it didn't deliver at its full potential.
